    New Omega Railmaster

I've just been sent an Instagram video embedded in an email from Omega. Pretty sure the video features the new Railmaster, layer by layer.

Well it's a better teaser video that those ridiculous Rolex ones.

I'll reserve judgement until I see the dial, and the case size/thickness.
It's just a matter of time...

  8. #8
Pretty unscientific and I'm sure somebody else can do better but...

Based on the 8806 movement which is 29mm wide, using a tape measure and a bit of basic maths to me the case is going to be 42mm.

Thought it might have been a bit smaller when I saw the 8806 movement as that appears in the smaller AT (but also the SM300).

The problem is going to be the thickness. The 2503 Railmaster using the 2500 movement is just 11mm thick but all of the 8000 and 9000 movement Omegas seem to the stupidly thick, 15-16mm in most cases. If they can keep the thickness down to 12-13mm then it may look and wear pretty well but if not it will be yet another fat blingy boat anchor which I wont give a second glance, like most of the existing range.

Agree with that. If it's 16mm thick it'll make the old Railmasters even more of a classic than they've already become.

Assuming that when I made my list of various movement thicknesses I didn't make a mistake....

    Omega 2500 4.1mm
    Omega 8500 5.5mm

Are the other 8xxx the same thickness? Bizarre how a 1.4mm difference in the movements seems to have translated into the overall watch thicknesses. Would love to read an explanation (or be told my figures are bobbins)

Bizarre how a thicker Rolex movement can result in a thinner watch too
It's just a matter of time...

New Seamaster SMP 300M with 8000 series movement in crazy 60th anniversary version ;)

    &

    Limited to only 60,000
It's just a matter of time...

I watched the instagram video too, if you watch it with sound sounds like a train on a track. So most likely a new Railmaster.

The 8800 is 4.6mm I believe. Its basically the single barrelled version of the 8500. It was recently used in the 40mm Planet oceans and would probably be used in the Railmaster and new SMP's if that is true

And the 39.5mm PO is a bit thinner at around 14.1mm I think so if the same getting there but still a touch too thick, really needs to be 13mm or thinner for me to consider. 40mm wide and 11-12mm thick would be just about right!

That would make sense since in the X-Ray teaser, I can only make out one barrel.

I think the 8500 Aqua Terra is around 13mm so guess it would be around that. I have to say the thinness is one of the things I like about my 2403 Railmaster.

    Globemaster is 12.5mm for comparison.

It seems that Omega is cooking a CK2913 reissue

Don't know how it fits next to the Master 300 though...

It fits as part of a trilogy of releases: Railmaster, Speedmaster and Seamaster 300. It looks like new retro versions of all 3 are due and indeed there will be a set of all three available too.

Someone on OF guessed the links for the spoiler vids not yet released:
    https://www.omegawatches.com/images/...17_Teaser1.mp4 was known

The 2 not yet out for the SM and Speedmaster:

    and

Yep, looks like basically the 1997 'Replica' Speedmaster in the 39mm FOIS case but with a DON90 bezel. Nice but not all that much of a surprise.

If they do release all three, will be interesting to see if they are sold as a box set or individually.

At around £13k (or more) for all 3, I would have thought individually

Makes sense from a marketing point of view. If they also sell individually then it may entice people to collect all 3.

Website says the Globemaster has the 8900 - is that the same 5.5mm as the 8500 ("two barrels mounted in series") just with the improvements needed for the METAS certification?
