GP 1966 in pink gold or?

I am looking at buying a GP 1966 in pink gold as it has a lot of value for the money at around USD9000 brand new. GP has everything I could ask for ie. Rich history & pedigree, Grand Prix awards winner, great brand reputation, high quality & finishing, reliable in house movement....Before I pull the trigger, are there any other pink gold dress watches I should consider? Thanks so much for your advice.

A couple of years ago, I saw a pink gold 1803 at a watch show. From memory the price was £7500. It was a stunning looking thing. Wish I'd bought it really!

Are you referring to Rolex 1803?

Longines also do some lovely good stuff if you're after new.

Sorry. In my opinion, Longines is no way near GP.

Well, it's your opinion and marketing-wise today you are correct as they are positioned just below Omega.
But from a history perspective I would say the exact opposite, and you could find some outstanding calibres in Longines. It would likely blow your budget in SS though, let alone in gold.

36mm is too small for me. I need at least 40mm.

I think it's a great watch. I have the white gold version, and you get a lot for your money, but look at Rolex Cellini, ALS, Patek Calatrava, albeit they might be used you can get some great deals on dress lightly used dress watches. Also, they will have taken the next step in depreciation already.
It's just a matter of time...

IF you want new and are planning to keep it then the GP is a great choice.

On the other hand, if you think you might change it at some point, I;d go for a mint pre-owned dress watch, in which case as mentioned above a lot of better makes come into your price range

I have been looking at adding a GP to the collection and was looking at this one

    What's not to like?

Having said that I just bought this rose gold dress watch.

I don't know what the RRP is on the watch you've been offered for $9k but G-Ps depreciate alarmingly; I take it that you realise this. The 1966 is a lovely watch. What about Moser?

Handsome stuff; Parmigiani Fleurier must be the least shown high end brand in this forum. I adore them, great choice.

It’s like you’ve been reading my posts from a while back, and acted upon them.
I’ve suggested the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda 1950 many times, and likewise the Girard Perregaux 1966, instead of the ubiquitous Calatrava.

I just learned that GP 1966 comes with pressure-fit case. Should I be concerned?

On a dress watch - no.

Personally the only real competitor to the GP in terms of getting a great value for a rose gold case, manufacture movement, and uncompromising aesthetics is Zenith

Though I personally am upset that they stopped doing the solid 18k rotors for their gold models

Great to see a Parmigiani around. They are exceptional in my eyes and slightly different. Quite similar to Moser in that regard and they are the ultimate to me
