Thread: Your favorite Panerai

  1. #1

    Your favorite Panerai

Let's show people we are not all about Rolex.
Post a pic of your favorite Panerai. There is a lot to choose from.
Radiomirs with wired lugs are quite popular here but my vote goes to a Submersible.
This happens to be my favorite Panerai.

I do love a nice Radiomir... my two favourites are:

    337 (owned and sold):

    346 (in the watch box):

I love the dot dial 233 as well, but I'm not really a fan of the Luminor crown guard.

PAM346 for me too, funnily enough ever since I saw that photo above, however many months ago it was.

I've only had two, a 112 and now currently this 372, I love the base dials and the 372 with the plexy crystal and the gold hands make it feel pretty special.
    Cheers..

I can't say that I have a favorite Panerai (I love'em all). If I sold myself (not like that you perverts) I still wouldn't be able to get one but here goes nothing...

I am in the very fortunate position of owning a 2002 Panerai Luminor GMT Regatta PAM00156 - this is the very limited edition Panerai produced for the Laureus Awards for that year, and so is one of just 300 in the world.

I think it's utterly beautiful - the closest non-LE equivalent in the current catalogue is the 00088.

I'm actually ashamed to put a photo up in the same thread as two of Tony's sublime images, but here you go...

By way of compensation here is an official Panerai photo of the watch taken from their archive...

By the way - this watch definitely counts as a TZ-UK favourite - to my certain knowledge it has been owned by no less than three other members before it came to me...

I'm on the waiting list for a Hulk Sub yet keep wondering if I'm doing the right thing as I really like the Panerai Submersible too. In some ways, I think it's a nicer looking watch, but financially, I think the Rolex is the sensible choice. Hmmmmmm...

Of the 3 i've had (90/328/233) my 233 by a country mile. Possibly my favourite watch full stop.

A couple of pictures in polar opposite environments....

The 48 which I had or the Radiomir GMT I wasn't allowed to buy by a snotty sales assistant in WoS years ago. Also I like the classic Radiomir in rose gold

A bit of a controversial one but I like the 42mm 535 GMT. RRP is £7000 but I could get it for £5800 - tempting

Got to be the Bronze Submersible

I own the 024 and the 421, both different beasts entirely.

421 is my favourite, bit yet very very comfortable, open case back and rose gold just add's to the visual beauty for me.

233 and 372 are my favourites. Love the dome on the 233 and the simplicity of the 372.

Loved the 312 when it came out but, ended up with a 321 which is, in effect, a 312 with the GMT and a power reserve meter.

It was this one PAM00523, with easy strap change shenanigans

    But I've just sold it

    Currently this one PAM00512

I guess my PAM90 was the start of my journey as a mad collector!

Recently coveted a PAM01359......any out there in anyone's collection?

  39. #39

    just one?

I'm having difficulty getting my collection down to 10

the plan is the 687 and 671 due to arrive this year, my 376 and 339, , the 662 and 673 i picked up recently, my beater of a 372, the 368 i've chosen over the 203, the giants of the 341,365 and 603

see that's 11 and there's something else i want which is truly spectacular

oh and there's the kampfswimmer recreation out this year

    it means i only have to get rid of now 232, 448,449,379,203,364,520, 201a, 514, 375, 399,398 and 389!

ok i may have a problem

    Jesus what a collection!

What would you recommend for a newbie. I'm after the following

    42 or 44mm luminor
    Small seconds hand
    See through case back
    Uncluttered dial
    Sandwich dial
    In house movement
Decent power reserve - preferably 8 day
    Automatic

    It's a minefield and if I'm honest I'm a little lost

Edit - I meant luminor not radiomir

I don't have one, but if I did it would be the PAM00392.

It's got everything I'd want in a Panerai; 1950 case, crown guard, sandwich dial, sub seconds, steel, leather strap, visible movement, all packaged in a wearable 42mm case.

Despite my love for all things 42mm, I still really love the 212 - a two register chronograph in a 1950's case with a ludicrously over domed crystal. I had one and loved it, but eventually decided it was too big for my tiny wrists. I've never been a fan of dates on Panerai watches - they always seem, in my opinion, to be a little out of keeping with the rest of the dial.

So, here are my current two - which I absolutely love:

    ...and here's a borrowed picture of a 212...

Paul, from what I saw, your collection is undeniably awesome and your a wealth of info for any Panerai enthusiast or beginner! I may as well have been in a museum looking at every release in the history of Panerai

I love my 111 which I have owned 10 years, looking at this thread, I'm wondering if the hands could be swapped to some gold ones...sacrilege, or easily reversed coolness I wonder?
Hands like on a 422,for example

So many for me to choose from, prefer the base dials, 009, 176, 587, 203 the list goes on, but if i had to choose one it would be the homage to where it all started...the 249.

    However i own these two

Ive had loads of different models over the years. I regretted selling the 351 I had (been eyeing up the example on SC ), loved my 372 but when I saw a picture of me wearing it, it had to go it was just too big. So I'm just left with my first ever PAM, one that I've had for over 10 years now, my faithful old, scratched-up 90.
