Hate them old style phones utter cack. Dire to send a text on, plus the reliability was poor. People go on and on about the battery life of the 6310,6210 yawn that's because many of the owners of these phones never really used them and they were sat in pockets all day. How do I know ? I was a dreaded mobile phone salesman back in the day!

Question for those in the know: can I just order a new sim for the same number?
Some providers did offer twin SIMs, not sure whom these days

As far as PHONES go, one of the very best, ever!

( Still have my Excel mobile (cost 2200 pds in the 80's - brilliant but huge !) for some odd reason, doesn't pick up any signal....

    Not many but how about:

Kodak - invented the digital camera
Xerox - invented the first windows style computer software

I really miss my Nokia 8810 - over £300 on eBay now, I wish I'd kept it.

Surely iPhones /Samsung or the big smartphone players can't rival for battery life such Nokias- most iPhones have a days worth of charge if it's in constant use

These phones are great phones for people who want simplicity, longevity and as mentioned people who just aren't interested in "insta" or twotter .
They will be useful in the drug trade these phones also

The thing I miss with smartphones is that with the old ones you could write sms without looking at the screen

I seen another YouTube video of these new 3310's
The screen had "please insert sim" twice on separate lines

Is this new release a double sim ??

Your dead right - by sheer feel and tactility you could navigate each button and configure which letters where on which number pad

Exactly! But it's funny how I could never master that with computer keyboard, that's still pure voodoo to me, even after using them for 20 years.

It's a good phone if you use it to make or receive calls only, and less opportunities to be hacked (no apps, email or web browser), other than that, meh..

Let's face it, most of us don't utilise a fraction of what a modern phone can actually do!
+1......there may be demand for the small phones that were very easy to carry around in a pocket. However, retro usually works on a 20 year cycle so it's a bit early yet.

Pity they fitted a camera. Quite a few professional environments are against mobile precisely because of cameras.

If you want a basic phone with long battery life, you can get a Nokia 130 for £15, and that really does do exactly what the 3310 used to.

On the subject of old phones, does anyone know where can you buy a SIM card which is a true pay to go sim? A sim that doesn't involve bolt ons and tarrifs but purely you pay £20 and the credit is reduced per text/call?

Having previously worked for Nokia, both in the field planning and building new mobile phone networks, and the latter being their PR and staff writer of their blog, I for one am very happy to see a come back, and you have to admit, their pricing for their new offerings are more than friendly. The new 3310 works out less than €50 euros here.

I think I threw out (within last year) a great condition 6310 with extended battery. It was fantastic in its day, but the usefulness of the smartphone eclipses it - even for an emergency-use unit.

I am definitely going to buy a "dumbphone.

I currently have a smartphone in my pocket and it is heavy and bulky. I do not use it regularly so the thing is a bit of a mystery to me. I get through about £30s worth of calls every year and that is at a PAYG rate of 35p.

I tend to use it to receive calls rather than making them.

I think they are good for taking out if you don't need social media and if you do lose the thing, it is no big disaster whereas losing your Apple will really be annoying.

So my missus will use her IPhone and I will carry a dumbphone and it seem to make sense.

The only downside is the bleeps when you touch the keys.

Oh and Car warehouse will be selling them for £41.00

I think Coop SIMs do that too. I bought a basic phone and PAYG SIM last year to take on mountain races, as a phone is part of the mandatory kit. Most runners carry a light/basic/disposable phone with long battery life rather than their expensive smartphone. I bought an EE SIM and was annoyed that they put it on a package, where I had none of my £30 credit left after 3 months despite not making any calls on it.

That wasn't my experience. I could send a text under the desk without even looking at the screen, teenagers with those phones were texting wizards. And reliability was OK considering what they were subjected to. They were only built to last a year as that was the usual contract term.

That sounds good. I have Lenovo laptop and tablet, both good products, will look at P2 when time for change. I still have my old Moto Razr clamshell as a backup phone.

A beater phone has always had appeal for rough days and I think there is definitely a market, but the sim switch needs to be a switch one off and turn the other on system otherwise it's just too much faff to swap and two numbers is a no go. Work out a same number switch and it's sorted for me.

    Not sure about the 'yet'.

I might be wrong here but I think they once existed here so perhaps unlikely to return?

    Damn, had an 8810 I think I ebay'd for £30 :(

Also had a 3210, 8210 and 8110 (a la Matrix). Just found out my mother in law is still using her original 3210!

Yes, surely this is the coolest phone ever

Also, have you ever wondered about the evolution of mobile phone design?

Nokia once the best phone in the market. Until now the brand is still the minds of the consumers especially those who live during those days were nokia is still no. 1. As the brand is relaunch Im sure we should find the right price for it.
