Omega bracelet and clasp: advice sought please.

    Evening Gents,

I've recently bought an Omega Seamaster 2255.80 as my 'holiday watch' and due to my wrist swelling in the heat I've now had it put on a strap but just can't 'settle' with it....
(I've worn adjustable bracelets on my watches all my life!)

... so inspired by the recent sale of the new Omega adjustable clasp I've sourced one but now need my watch put back on the original bracelet and the new clasp fitted.

I realise that this is something many of you could and would do yourselves but I have neither the tools nor the dexterity: so is this something you'd entrust to a local 'high street jeweller' or would you recommend a more specialised 'watch repairer''??

I'd normally run it down to Swiss Time Services who are just down the road from me but after they couldn't supply the clasp (as it deviates from the original specification), I very much doubt that they'd install the clasp for me.

If you would suggest using a specialised watch 'repairer' is there anyone you could recommend please??

Ideally perhaps someone here on the forum??

    Thanks in advance as always....

Don't do it yourself would be my advice

I recently acquired a Omega 2254 recently & just popped into a local Omega retailer in Windsor. They added a link for me without an issue

Maybe just ask a local retailer ?

I think you'll need more than just the clasp - it's only a straight replacement fit for the screw and pin bracelets.
It's just a matter of time...

You also need new links to fit to the bracelet. I will look out the references when I get back home if no one has posted them quicker.

I was lucky to have no such problems when I owned my 2255.80 spuds, but I'm about to but the SMPc later today and hoping for similar luck with the bond bracelet, but as you mentioned I have the option of this adjustable clasp, albeit a bit more bulky I've heard!

    Anyway, good luck with it!

    Matt

    Thanks Gents, you're absolutely right....

I took the bracelet and clasp into WatchLab at Lakeside today and they couldn't do it.

STS can't do it either as it 'deviates from original spec', so can anyone recommend someone that I could send it off to please?

    Either on or off forum??

    Thanks again.....

This is a note of the parts needed to fit onto a bracelet with pin and tube. The clasp fits directly to the new screw type bracelets. The fitting is really easy as you just need a good quality screwdriver.

I did this myself July last year when Omega was still selling the parts. I believe they stop selling this to avoid modifications, as mentioned You will need the attachment links 4 pins and 8 tiny screw bolts. If I'm not mistaken the size of flat screw should be 1.8mm. I also made a thread about this and should be buried into the deep by now.

I'm just re-sizing my SMPc now that I got from the AD, they did size it for me but it's still a little loose so I have taken a half link out

Thanks for the fast reply as I want to get this job done fast before I loose anything, good job I checked my Watch today as the AD hadn't screwed one in tight enough and it was already backing out :-0

Anyway, when I pick up the screws with the tweezers I will dab them in a drop of lock tight, here's a pic of the stuff I'm gonna use, and when in looked at this pic just now I noticed a hairline on my clasp already lol

Was careful not to over tighten, two of the other screws were loose too, hadn't started to back out but zero resistance from the screwdriver, frightening!

I'm tempted to do the four that hold the end links for good measure, even though I know there weren't touched, what do you think?
