    New Ressence

    https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/re...-introducing-2

Wasn't there one of the older versions on here? Think I saw something around when I joined this forum nearly a year ago. Whatever happened to it.

    Is oil the future?!

These watches look amazing, but unfortunately way out of my price bracket!

On my wish list at some point. Most of the Ressence range are lovely looking watches, not seen one in the flesh yet though.

    Interesting, but crazy prices.
It's just a matter of time...

It was RAJEN who got one. Wonder if it's still around or moved on? Think I preferred the black of that one than the grey

I had one and was a wonderful watch.
My only issue was that it was a bit cumbersome to set time if not being worn all the time or on a winder.
    Still miss it.
Not feeling the grey,I am afraid.

I agree. The black really made it pop.

Very cool watch whatever colour it's in. What did you move it on for? Must've been something half decent!

I suspect it would be a VERY long post!!!

Do you even know how many watches you own, Raj?

I like the look of the Ressence but I agree that the all-grey look is a bit 'flat'.

    Amazing technology, though...

    Cool

    Looks super cool....but pricey imho.

Saw this at SIHH and would tend to agree with the comments above: it lacks the impact of the black version. However, it's a far more subtle watch in grey.

I have a friend who bought one (being the older version in black) and that was the first I had heard of the brand. Was pretty shocked when I heard the price of it! Yet to see it in the flesh but it's an interesting take on how to best display the time, etc.

I have gathered that there's a bit of a collection there. Would love to see it!

Interesting, if very pricey, but gimmicky. Flat display could be LCD: where are the beautiful dial, hands and case that one might expect at this price (let alone an in-house movement - I believe this is ETA-based, albeit modified to drive the display via magnetic coupling).

The "flat" appearance, I suspect is to do with the use of "grade 5" titanium alloy which is fairly dull in appearance unless polished or anodised. I keep reading about this in watch cases like it is something special. From memory, it is simply alpha-beta stabilised Ti6Al4V alloy which is fairly inexpensive and common as dirt in engineering terms. Do not know why people do not use its ease of coloring to make much more funky cases ?

It uses the minute hand drive from an ETA movement to drive sun/planet gearing for all the dials and scales. Very different, unique, but expensive.

    Unhappy

The piece from Ressence is innovative and exciting. But for the price of USD35800 is just.....

These are just such fantastic bits of kit - love the LCD look it has. Also not as keen on the grey as on the full colour variants...but I wouldn't say no.
