Advice sought - 2 watches or wait for a 5711

    Hi all,

I've been on the waiting list for a Patek 5711 for what seems like an age, but I have been assured by this AD that I am next on the list.
(It's an AD that I've previously bought from in the North)

I recently visited a store in London and fell in love with 2 vintage watches that collectively would come to a bit less than the RRP of the 5711.

The first is a Patek 3429 from 1965 and it's a beauty....just been refurbished and an Auto, so I could wear it during the week to work.

The second is a Rolex 5513 from 1969, and this one was due to go in for a refurb to service the movement, replace the crystal and polish the case.

So should I wait for the 5711 or go for these 2 and save time and bit of money?
These would be my 2 work watches for weekdays.

In my collection I also have an AP Offshore Rosegold for special occasions and a PAM307 for casual wearing/holidays/swimming etc.

    Thoughts are greatly appreciated!

    Wait for the 5711.
It's just a matter of time...

Buy the Patek 3429 and forget the others. That's sheer class, just buy that , forget the new Patek and the scruffy old Rolex.

Don't know enough about vintage Patek to comment on the one you show but surely it will be a small case?
With vintage Rolex originality is everything and the 5513 you show, (if it is indeed from 1969), has the wrong dial and insert.
    Early 1970's and 1980's respectively.

    Thank you for the responses.
I'm really taken with the Patek, it has such a timeless quality.
It is actually 35mm and looks fine on the wrist.

Vintage Rolex really is a minefield....they told me it was circa 69.
Would prefer one with a super dome and nicer patina really.

I will mull over the Patek tonight....

Can I be cynical? Wait for the 5711, see how you get on with it for a week or two, and if it doesn't live up to the dream (I've had one, it might not) sell it for a profit. There will always be nice vintage Patek dress watches and that 5513 doesn't look great.

I agree with this. The 5513 doesn't look a great example.

If the sub was a better condition red Mk4 or 5 I might say buy but not for that, 5711 all the way.
