    Frankenstein..hart

    I recently received this -

Been wearing it solid for a week, love it. :)

But the insert was bugging me...

Well, a little packet came through the door today from Steinhart in Germany.. And...... Ta-daaa! -

    Much better. :D

It looks fab on the Phenomenon NATO it's currently wearing, but hopefully my Perlon NATO will arrive from the States soon, which i think will finish it off nicely. :)

Beautiful! Simple layout and great balance. Domed sapphire done nicely; see through back, maybe; gloss/sheen of bezel is fabulous. Shock resisting and Swiss are nice scripts. No reference to vintage on the dial is also a plus. In all I love it too.

Can never go wrong with that watch and Steinhart's customer service.

I like it with both bezels, but the second one gives it a different look.

The new bezel takes it to another level, I like it 👍

    Very nice.

Subtle change makes quite an improvement IMHO.

Thanks for all the positive comments. :)

It's a bugger to photograph, so much nicer in the metal. ;)

My eyes are poor -Is the change a red triangle and it looks glossier (ceramic) ?

I heard Steinharts bezels were a bugger to change inserts ?

I'm thinking of an ocean 1 - do you think generally pictures do an injustice as some of the pics I saw the metal looks really dark almost gunmetal and it's off putting

Yeah, looks great. It's amazing how that tiny little sliver of colour can really bring everything together.

Yes, the insert has been changed to one from the Ocean one vintage.

It was a simple job really as all I did was dig out the lume pip in the original insert with a pin, then carefully prise it off through the pip hole with a small flat bladed screwdriver.

The original insert is mincemeat but I'm going to order spare original one from Gnomon for completeness to the set. ;)

Removing the whole bezel is apparently a challenge, so I decided to go the route I just described.. Rather wreck a €15.00 insert than a watch case and bezel. :D

Must be bad photography.. it's nice, shiny, polished and brushed 316L Stainless steel.

You won't regret buying one! ;)

Domed crystals do make photography difficult, but it looks great with that new insert.

Saw this in the flesh today, it's even better than shown and bleedin huge!

I must have it. I'd even consider piling todays haul in for it, but there'd also have to be cash my way mate!

Echo the other comments. That is a great looking watch with a lovely balance and I have been quite interested in picking one of these up - does it wear big?

I was sure that the Legacy was larger than the GMT vintage and the great white homage. It's an illusion and a factor of the bezel/dial ratio. Much wider bezel on the great white smaller dial bigger hour markers work together to make the watch feel smaller. The Legacy has a narrower bezel and a much more spacious dial with longer more elegant hands and it appears bigger. On the wrist they all occupy the same space.

It's a beautiful watch with both bezels. Can' decide which one I like better :-D
However, the NATO definitely completes the look. Are the PhenomeNATOs as good as they appear to be?
