Afternoon everyone.
I need to sell my car after suffering an arm amputation in a work accident on Monday.
The car will not be suitable for me as they couldn't save my arm and I'm going to be provided with a false arm.
Obviously this is going to take some time and it will be sat on my drive.Mrs doesn't drive so I'm going to sell it and purchase some thing suitable when the time is right.
Happy if any car dealers can help me out.
Or if you can point me in the right direction to the right internet user to use.
The car is a BMW 2011 320d M Sport grey in colour with alloys sat nav etc.
68222 mileage has part BMW service and part independent.
Tax n tested has a private number plate which I'm dealing with at the moment.

Autotrader offers the best exposure per £ in mt view - the E90 320D is popular so if pricedand prepped well it should be an easy sell.
However, although difficult to factor in at the moment, wouldn't some mods to it be more cost-effective?
Likewise I hope you recover quickly.
I know nothing about the British car market. That is not the reason that I write this.
What a horrible reason to sell the car! I can not expres myself good enough in English in this case I think. But I would like to say that I am shocked to read this. I wish you all I can wish you in these terrible hours, weeks and months to come!

Can't help with the car sale but just to say I worked very closely with a number of amputees for a year, as well as being very humbling and inspirational it was amazing what a few adaptions achieved and how they carried on with their lives. Not to say it was all plain sailing but medicine has come a long way with these injuries.

I sold mine recently in my local area morning paper (Northern Echo) It was £18 for six days .... had it sold easily and what I asked for. Still had people conracting me for up to a week after the advert had expired. Well pleased.
PS. That's tragic news about your accident... sorry to hear of it, I hope all goes well with a new arm, they can do amazing things now.

Autotrader, seems to have one of the widest audiences - but I'm guessing priced right any of the usual outlets would see an easy sale.

Sorry to hear that, maybe easier to sell to BMW dealer or consider p/ex on Motabilty? The Sheffield number is 0114 327 2452. I've used webuyanycar but pretty sure you need to take car to them, but you can at least use their site for a low ball price guide for free even if you don't use them.
I'm working in the area during the week until end of March so am about in evenings (Tue/Weds) if I can help in any way please drop me a PM.
I've always had success with an eBay classified ad (not an auction) was about $15 last time I used one so much better value than Autotrader I reckon

That sounds absolutely dreadful - I hope that your recovery goes OK.
I have sold a number of cars on eBay but there do appear to be a high number of time wasters and the terminally bewildered on their these days. The charges can be significant too. Auto Trader is mentioned above, I have used this a number of times over the years and always achieved a quick sale.
Do not be tempted at all by the slick advertising of We Buy Any Car who promise a magical hassle free option and guaranteed purchase price. There have been many complaints about them not honouring this (I believe that its something over 90% of offers not being honoured) and generally you end up paying dearly for the convenience.
You could always try a post on SC - lots of others do. I sold a VW Golf a couple of years ago this way.

As Ian suggested the "We buy any car" route is quick but be prepared to accept less than the car is worth.I used them to sell my last car.Speed was of the essence so that is the route I took.SC is worth a punt and will hopefully eliminate time wasters.Good luck with everything.

It's been a while since I've sold a car but when I have done they've always shifted quickly on Auto Trader.

I can't help with the car but as mentioned previously, there's lots can be done these days and adapting the car should be straightforward enough.
I suppose there's plenty of other things to adapt to first though!

As others have said, a 320D BMW should be easy to sell on - they're very good, from what I hear.
Given that you've got plenty of other things to worry about at the moment, selling privately probably isn't the first choice - there are so many timewasters out there. However, some dealers (probably second-hand as opposed to main) will offer a car for sale on a commission basis - it's low risk for them as they don't have capital tied up in the car, and if it sits around for a few weeks until it gets a better price they won't be too bothered. This might be a good solution if you can find someone who will sell the car on a percentage basis rather than a flat fee - then, of course, it's in their interest to obtain the maximum sale price.

Quite shocked when I read your thread Colin, really sorry to hear about this.
There must be someone on TZ that lives near you who would be very happy to help out by getting the car cleaned up, photographed and advertised for you. If I was nearer I certainly would and as this is such a great forum no doubt there will be plenty of offers for support to help you out.
Pistonheads has always been a great place for me to sell my cars, cleaned and prepped with some decent photos ideally in the sun and plenty of info in description.
I've always managed to avoid the tyre kickers on P/heads which I've attracted on Ebay ads.

If you're going to sell privately, the Autotrader is the way to go. It depends how much hassle you want on your plate at the minute. The easier, albeit less profitable way, is to sell to a dealer. Less money but straight forward and quick.

If going dealer, avoid We Buy Any Car. Also avoid BMW main dealers. Contact a few local dealers that sell similar cars to yours and see what they bid you. I'd imagine you'll be looking at between £900 and £1200 less than what you could sell it for privately. It's up to you whether that's worth it.
As mentioned above, when you are ready, have a word with motability. They should be able to provide you with a suitable car.

Very sorry to hear this and as you can probably tell, there's a lot of people on here today feeling for you.
No expert on car selling, all I'd suggest is at this moment in time, selling it the easiest way possible. You've a lot to deal with and the hassle of selling a car isn't worth it, so I'd suggest someone who will buy it immediately.

I'm confident a popular car like yours should shift easily on SC at market rate, without having to pay for the Auto Trader or eBay advert. E90 320d's in m-sport guise not only look good, but have a decent turn of performance for the mpg they offer, so I'd be surprised if a there wasn't a fellow TZ-er who fancied one.
Hope you're able to rely on friends and family a little.
Perhaps one of them could help you sell it if there are no takers on SC.

My arm was trapped in a waste compactor and was pulled along until it snapped off.
Medical attention has been first class from the ambulance men,trauma team at northern general Sheffield to all the great staff who looked after me in the hospital.
Legal will be looked after by my union.
