Cwc price hike again - in two days

Just a quick observation after chatting on BMW -
I and a another forum member had visited the CwC website a day or so ago -
Priced at £649 for RN auto divers - it's now £899

Similarly the quartz was £449 and now is £679

    Absolutely staggering and frankly disgusting

Their selling point was value which they've now reduced so let's see what happens to sales.

I'd love to see a timeline of their prices for the last 5 or so years.

They don't seem to do small increases either!

    £160 for a G10 is a bit salty too.

    Jesus wept – £679?

Have they upgraded the movement in the quartz? Er, no! The ETA 955.122 isn't all that and although a nice enough watch, definitely not worth paying that premium for. Good luck to them.

Glad I picked mine up last November. I thought £420 was a bit steep anyway but it was the last brushed case version so I had to

I had a silvermans catalogue in my garage from
2006 pretty sure the cwc autos were £299 non date and £350 for dated-

Yes what possible extra have CWC managed to improve the value and build quality of a watch (divers) that has little changed over last ten years - better casing ? Movement ? Glass ?

I can understand the g10 new edition with the higher water resistance, screw down crown and glass but the divers seem the same as always apart from brushed steel than polished-

Think it's been covered before this with them using the military relevance as a selling point but the pricing of today isn't justified

I have had a couple of the quartz versions and the automatic - nice watches, but not at those prices. I am still of the mindset that second hand £300 for a good Quartz and £450 to £500 for an automatic.

Hopefully, their sales will collapse. Nothing but profiteering in this case.

I too would like to see a plot of their prices over time.

I worked with a navy dive team recently and they were all issued with citizens, which they didn't rate. None of them had CWC

That seems an all mighty hike ! How or even will they justify it ? If i were in the market for a watch at around those values why would i choose them over a Longines for example ?

A recent response I received from Silvermans.

'The cheapest that we can ship to Australia for two NATO straps is £15.00'.

    Really...then Golf Foxtrot!

Cwc price hike again - in two days

    Maybe

It's just if I go into the grocers to buy a warburtons or rathbones loaf for a pound one day then two days later it's £5 - I have to wonder about flour, packaging and other increases ?

It just seems unusual for such an increase - sure I'll accept it with inflation but that's about it

I do agree though I don't know what costs have risen for materials , cases and it could be they've been at a loss or broke even and have to compete with micro brands putting out excellent watches for less - but If that's the case they're not competing they are pricing themselves out that market -

With regards to what prices the pieces sold for previously, we don’t know what costs have risen, and whilst the brand probably entered the market with a plan to work off a small margin initially, to gain a foothold, it was never going to continue ad infinitum.
We don’t know what cost increases they’ve had, and decided to absorb, and maybe you’ve all been spoilt with artificially low prices, whilst also benefiting from the 60/60 guarantee and frequent sales/discount codes.

How long has Steinhart been in business?
    Where’s their 5 year warranty?
What’s Breitling’s – a mundane 2 years? (5 for manufacture movement models – don’t they have the same confidence in the ETA movements they’re being supplied, as CWC do?)

Maybe a bit more fact finding and thinking about the overall view is required, before expressing one’s indignation – eh?
Erm... you're referring to Christopher Ward whereas this thread is about CWC/Silvermans, who have put up prices by 40%-50%! ;-)

Decided to wear by brushed quartz non-date today as I was thinking about putting it on SC. Like it, but Silvermans are going to find it hard to sell them at that price. Not sure it's that special a piece.

    Bring back the PRS-10.

Wearing my Royal Navy Divers today - it's a great grab n' go but that's quite a steep price hike!

I'm wearing my RN quartz from 2001, bought from Chronomaster in 2004. I can never sell it now, as at the going rate for used I'd be tarred and feathered as a rampant profiteer! ;-)

Just had a look on CWC site and the Royal Navy quartz is back down to £499. What's going on?!

I saw that too, maybe responding to public feeling as they do monitor forums.

Looks to me as if the £499 is the last stock they have of the original watch.. They state 'limited stock'

There is now a Mk2 with sapphire crystal and 120 click bezel for £679..

If I had the means I'd be all over that £499 model.

Ha ha I know, I'd thought of that, but it's still £499. I'll ponder a while. I've always loved it but if I'm really honest the fixed bars are a huge deal for me. As it would be my only watch I'm not sure I could handle only ever wearing it on a nato.

Still too high in my view. I paid about £450 which I thought a little overpriced at the time. I think that it should be no more than £400.

I'd actually go further Ian as Eddie's auto PRS-3 is £340! I know Eddie always prices below reasonable but the difference between the two can't really be justified.

Annoying, I was about to buy a CWC RN Auto. Was torn between it and a PRS, but decided on the CWC in the end. The price increase pushes it beyond what I think its worth, so they've lost one sale because of it anyway!
