    My Turtle mods

A quick update and edit of the header.

I have been working on some Seiko SRP Turtle's I thought I would share.

    First up is my SRP777.

High double domed sapphire with purple A/R coating. Signed crown. Brushed steel chapter ring. Coin One bezel. PO styled chapter ring. Regulated. Love it.

Side on with the low profile sapphire fitted:

    That looks excellent.

Was the crown from "the tiger uk"?

    Thanks.

John (the tiger uk) may sell them but I got mine directly from the supplier, Duncan at 23--59 on the bay. They are not cheap but do add a touch of quality.

I wonder if the movement and crown combination from an SRP7xx would drop straight into an SKX007. As you're probably aware, the 4r36 will fit the SKX but the sticking point to most modders is finding the correct crown to fit. The normal solution is to fit a crown and stem from a SARB059 (I think) but these are getting harder to find.

Cool thanks. The low profile sapphire and coin edged bezel looks great too.

Would also like to know if the movrments are the same.

I've just sent my 007 to John (The Tiger UK) for a TST shroud, same sapphire and bezel as yours but with an 007J dial and black date discs. Just need to find the date discs and dial now.

Have a SRP777 coming tomorrow from David (TaketheCannoli) so might go down the same route as you with that - definitely sold on the crown.

    Thanks guys.

Just finished this one. A 775 with domed sapphire and ceramic insert. I also realigned the chapter ring.

    A great combination.

    My PADI.

I have never been a lover of a pepsi bezel. I do love the colour of the PADI dial so it now has a matching insert. My favourite turtle at present. Signed crown, high double domed sapphire, the chapter ring realigned and my more refined brushing on the case top.

Some serious improvements! How much is a ceramic bezel insert? Say 50 quid?and the sapphire? Such major improvements, surprising Seiko don't offer a premium range with then in.

The ceramic inserts are around £40. Sapphires are between £35 and £55 depending on supplier. This one from Crystaltimes is my favourite. A CT072 at around £40.

Ah ok, it refers to a TST shroud.

My next question would be, what exactly is a TST shroud?

    Sorry for the newbie questions.

The thread clearly states TST and (John) The Tiger UK.

These look fantastic and have inspired me to order a coin edge bezel, high dome crystal and batman ceramic insert for my blue turtle. Only trouble is I now need to find someone to do the work for me. I would ordinarily have contacted Cannop of this parish but his website says he's not accepting new work at the minute. Can anyone suggest another trustworthy modder?

I really like the silver chapter ring, gives the dial new depth. First PO style bezel looks best in my eyes.

I am normally not a big fan of mods on a watch, but your mods definitely made the watch look better and more interesting! Good work!

    Thanks.

The PADI has a standard bezel fitted with an aftermarket blue insert. Some of the other mods do have a Dr. Seikostain coin one bezel fitted that is either in a standard polished finished or hand brushed.

Another mod with the brushed finish to the Coin One bezel along side a distant relative.

Really curious where you got the bezel insert from. I'm looking for a dark blue one for my PADI but can't seem to nail a perfect one down.

The perfect options are this large dot yobokies insert, or what is on my padi now; a complete SRP773 bezel.

You have to remember that the dial and insert do change to different shades of blue depending on the light conditions. Saying that, both these blue inserts do suit the PADI perfectly.

Poor light here but you can get the idea.

I really prefer dark navy blue. I ordered the yobokies bezel you suggested. The Pepsi bezel just isn't versatile at all. I think the PADI with a blue bezel, super jubilee and maybe marine master hands will fill a casual but work friendly role.
