can you actually buy a SS sports Rolex in the uk new.

Cannot find one anywhere? All the AD don't have any in I get that its a premium product but is it great business to not have stock available for sale if it shifts so quick?

Only want a new sub non date not asking for the world or a hand crafted Patek. Is availability really that poor is it just a created scene to keep prices firm. Either way its a pain in the ass frankly..

There was one in leeds yesterday. I'm not from there so don't recal the name but a big jewellers in a pedestrian area with a huge window of rolex....not the rarer stuff but had explorer 2's, deepseas, yachtmaster 2 as well.

Plenty available, unless you are looking for a Daytona or whatever. Just call, and if they dun have one, put down a deposit and you will get one in within a month.

Last Thursday I got a call from an AD offering me an Explorer I that I asked for months ago but have since acquired so I turned it down and instead asked for a green LV. I just took a call this morning saying it's in tomorrow. Fantastic service, no games or pretence.

First AD I called locally had a new sub date going @£6200, so they are out there if you look.

I have been offered on reservation by an AD in central London that I cannot complete on - on hold until tomorrow.

If anyone would like the details send me a PM.

Well I officially joined a BLNR waiting list today and paid a deposit - 6-9 months so plenty of time for saving :/

Rudells in Birmingham wouldn't even put me on the list, though I have never purchased from them before so not unexpected.

I'm on a waiting list for a currently imaginary watch (Basel release 50th anniversary SD.)

    Hope it's
    1) real
    2) not disgusting
    3) not white gold and £25k

Plenty of explorer II's in the window of Laings in Glasgow and plenty of other respectable places in the arcade with pre-owned subs in various forms in the window including a hulk or kermit or whatever the hideous all green one is called.

Just been past. There are no SS Subs in Goldsmiths' window, but there is one in Prestons' (albeit with a GMT Master II tag in front of it).

Well that's just not cricket. Goldsmiths Merry Hill called me back and said "actually Sir, sorry but we don't take deposits", so I'm just on the list I guess. I then called Bullring Goldsmiths and the waiting list is "over 12 months"! I get the feeling it's a load of tosh judging by other posters on here.

Does anyone have any advice? Do AD's actually take deposits? I don't expect to be bumped up the list by dropping some cash down, but I would expect to get them to at least take me seriously.

I just went on the list for a SS Sub Date at the Rolex boutique in Mappin & Webb on Old Bond Street.

They've taken a 20% deposit and told me there's about an eight month wait.

If anybody knows where I can get a new Sub Date through an authorised UK dealer more quickly there'll be a decent drink in it ;-)

Form an orderly queue for something that may not ever exist

Hope the dealer took a real deposit from you(?)....on the understanding that it could be transferred to an actual watch

Get a list ADs and keep ringing until you find it. Guaranteed you will have one within a couple of weeks max. A bit of effort on your part, and it will be on your wrist very soon.

I was in Goldsmiths (Canterbury) a few weeks ago and they had a new Pepsi GMT on display.

I went back a week later and it was nowhere to be seen. I assume that's quite a rare shelf piece these days?

Not here in London. Have seen them in most dealers. It's a white gold piece so they don't tend to move very quickly.

Exactly. Quite a common piece. The price tends to be the giveaway!

When I bought my Sub Date last year, I walked into an AD and they told me they'd just received one in delivery that morning, and that it was meant to be allocated to a specific customer on the list, but that I could buy it if I wanted to, because I was there in the store and they wouldn't turn down a sale. At the time I took it to be sales patter and just a trick to try and get me to buy it. But perhaps ADs do actually do this, and it's just luck of the draw of walking into a shop at the right time?

Mate head to David M Robinson in Manchester. I was on a biz trip and had a few hrs to kill...this was 2 weeks ago and an hour later walked out with a new ceramic with date at RRP. They get stock in regular. Had the choice between GMT, the sub and a deep sea but went with a sub for a number of personal reasons ..great service too! Good luck

So, which Rolex s/s 'sports' watches have the longest waiting list?

From my recent enquiries, I guess it's the 'must have' Daytonas - the ones with a waiting list for the waiting list !

Steel Daytona (unavailable), Blue Deepsea (a functioning waiting list) and to some extent the BLNR GMT. Everything else seems available with some shopping around.

Sums it up well. I was offered an LV two days ago. Thinking I should have taken it.🙁

  48. #48
I wonder if they'll ever go down a proper ordering route like when buying a new car. In this day and age I can't fathom why you can't go in to a Rolex boutique and order any of their standard watches and get a firm delivery date.

After applying at a few ADs for the BLNR the longest wait list is 12 months. Fraser Hart said that the BLNR and Daytona were now "head office" waiting lists rather than the local store, and I wasn't given a time frame.
