They dropped it because it didn't sell. I have heard tales of dealers shifting these by reducing them to £250 in the early 2000s. Worth rather more now.

It's full size, but the ref is for the titanium 2231.50

Ah didn't notice it was titanium looking on my phone, I think I still have a couple of pics of my 2255.80 on my phone, will have a look and post them up!

This is how the auto EB SMP looks on an Alligator strap. Not to everyone's taste but it feels great.

I had mine on a brown Hirsch Duke for a while, so I don't think it looks bad, even better on the deployment, as you say not everyone's taste though!

I think what feels wrong is putting a diver's watch on a non-waterproof strap. I never get any of my watches wet though so this wont be an issue.

Yep I know what you mean, I'm looking online now for an aftermarket Strap for my SMPc as a strap alternative to the bond Bracelet, but I've almost given up and come to terms with the fact it's gonna stay on the Bracelet, definitely not paying what Omega are asking for a rubber tang strap!

Thanks, and believe it or not I will be putting up for sale soon as I am looking to replace it with limited edition SMPc.

I have a number of SMPs, but have never owned a titanium model - I bet it feels great in the wrist as a 'daily'.

The only thing I can compare it to weight wise is a Breitling Aerospace.

Sadly. It was offered to me again at a shedload more than I'd sold it (to the seller) for... I couldn't bring myself to buy it back at such a loss, though. In truth the price was probably reasonable.

Of course :) I did have an early 00's Bond, but it went so I could eventually land the Great White. Both fine pieces!

How many of us have not been affected in this way, it could be an entire thread all of it's own. I sold my mint mid 80's full set SD for £3700 and couple of years ago, it must be worth nearly £2k more now.

    The Omega appreciation thread

Not just about the value though (although that does sting somewhat), I just wanted to show what I believe to be some nice examples of increasingly rare Omega models. Part of the pain is accepting that it is increasingly unlikely that I will ever bring examples like these into my collection again, irrespective of what I was prepared to pay.

    Exactly.

In fairness I was going through something of a personal trauma at the time, and wasn't thinking with a great deal of clarity. Even so, that Speedy ship has sailed and it does cause me a fair amount of angst.

All these 2254s make for traumatic viewing. Why god why didn't I keep mine :(

This is my only Omega. Must get a decent picture some day but this will have to do for now!

Oh yes I know - it makes me very happy. And I could have bought another 2254 instead of this, but I figured this was a relatively rare opportunity so I went for it.

I have an Omega Nato that I picked up a while ago, it seems to be a good pairing with the PO.

Cheers Model no. is 145.017 if you want to look them up. There are a few dial variations to keep things interesting.

A couple of wrist shots of the watches I posted in #159. First, the Speedmaster 105.003 from 1964:

And second, a 2016 Planet Ocean (model no. 232.30.46.21.01.003)
