WhT on earth did you do to it?? Did you wrap it up damp in your wet socks and leave it in the garden for the winter or something?
My strap seems to have taken on this well worn look. Not sure if it'll catch on?

A bag of chalk exploded in my kit bag and I forgot about it :/
At least it wasn't cement dust........
