    I love the bronzo but it's £11,600.

the last version of the bronzo is in the £30k mark though, so I suppose this is a cheap way of getting one. I wonder what the chances are though with only 1000 pieces. The omega Tuesday sold out in a few hours so I assume this Pam is already unobtainable?

Hands, dials, crown, cases, straps. Apart from that they look fine.

I love them. There isn't one on that list that doesn't at least make me stop and look.

I know they seem to divide opinion but they are superb if you have dirty great arms like mine. They fit me just perfectly. I was wearing mine today and someone always says something nice about it. I think it's classy and surprisingly understated. I'm considering getting another, sportier one. Hell, I even like the WHITE ones, which I'm led to believe is tantamount to horological sacrilege.

I must admit they didn't ever do anything for me, until I saw them in the flesh. What a difference that made, and now I want 3 or 4. I'll probably never get them though unless I sell one of my daughters. A small sacrifice I'm sure you'll agree!

I love everything but the price and the size and the overall design is starting to look dated (does any watch scream early 2000s as much as a Panerai?).

  12. #12
Off the top of my head I'm going with the over inflated Price and dreadful service centre support.

I love the Bronzo but not the price, £11,600 apparently. A great deal of cash more than the previous 2 bronze editions but values of those appear to be holding strong at well over £20,000

That crown guard. Functional but kills the aesthetics. Not as bad as some Graham offerings but bad enough.

I like the splash of colour but i still would not buy one of those with lugs and huge crown guard, now i woluld like to see something similar done to the wire lug models.

For me the crown guard is what makes a Panerai a Panerai.

I'm not keen on the Radiomir without the crown guard.

Horses for courses and all that, if we all liked the same thing there'd be no need for more than one watch

I am not a big fan of the panerai design - the crown guard in particular. There are many nicer options in the price bracket IMHO

I agree that they split opinions. I can just about get over the size of them but the crown guard is quite a put off. I'd wear one, probably infrequently if I owned one, which for me doesn't justify the price tag. The Radiomir however is a different matter...

  36. #36
None of them for me they all look just that bit too much for im more into the look of the vintage and vintage inspired/looking watches from panerai...for me them and vintage tool divers watches from rolex are things of ablslout beauty 😆😆😆😆😆

The thing that always surprises me in discussions of watch sizes is how often large watches are derided simply for being large. Small watches don't fit me. They don't suit me. But I don't think they're inferior anywhere in any way - any more then I think size medium is inferior to size extra large. But oftentimes I see people referring to smaller watches being for the more "discerning" buyer.

In broad terms men's wrists vary by about 4 to 5 cm in circumference whereas in general watch diameters only vary by about 1 to 1.5 cm. I think that it's tricky to see how any watches could be inherently "too large" or indeed "too small"when they don't vary anything like wrists do! They're simply the wrong size for that particular wearer.

Wear what you like I say. Where what suits you. Watch sizes are all absolutely relative.

I prefer the old ones because of their charme and simplicity. The base models that is.

I've been surprised how much I like the Radiomir I just bought, super comfortable and really nicely finished.

Thanks for the link to an interesting and Very nice article
Am not sure what your point is but 203 remains very desirable and interesting.
Am surprised detractors haven't brought up 318.

The thread was about new Panerais but hey,why let that get in way of some good old PAM bashing:-)

    I read this - http://www.ablogtowatch.com/panerai-...-42mm-watches/
with interest after seeing the smaller case size which would suit me better.
Panerai is now becoming a brand that I could see myself wearing. Funds allowing.

My point was the faux mythology that the brand engineers. It's as bad as their fake aged dials. I won't mention the ceramic casing that changes colour if you drink alcohol. The current crop of new releases sees the brand trying to reinvent themselves as some technological marvel. They're just trying to keep the brand mythology going to regenerate the hysteria that used to surround them (like the 203).

But at the end of the day it's all about what people want to believe. Most Panerai look good but IMHO aren't worth anywhere near what they're priced at.

I've got my flame suit on!

I think you seem to be forgetting that they have developed some remarkable inhouse calibres as well.
The fans feed on LEs like 203 and they pander to them. I don't see anything wrong with that.
As far as any luxury watch being worth as much as the prices they command, I find amusing it every time someone mentions it. I am sure you know that argument can be made against any luxury watch.
I personally feel it is much more appropriate to say -I will not pay the price they are asking for that particular model or brand which is perfectly acceptable as not every brand or model will appeal to same degree to everyone

Thats the issue in a nutshell. Panerai ain't luxury. Anyway, we're derailing the thread so my apologies to the OP. I'll book a room at the Premier Inn where we can discuss it. Room 203. : )

Would you consider Premier In luxury?
