It's just a matter of time...

Am glad I asked you to post them. The Lancia is amazing. The others none to shabby.

Lovely Escort and Lancia. I'm afraid the rest don't do anything for me but I'd happily have either of those two.

I must admit I rather regret selling the integrale - it's now worth nearly double what I sold it for (and I sold it at a profit!). Despite loving the look of it, and everything it stood for (I'm a big rally fan), I never really bonded with it, it was a rather rattly old thing to drive, and didn't sound that great.

Another case of seller's remorse is the Challenge Stradale ... financially speaking, ouch! And that was/is a great car, pure and simple. I had no choice but to sell at the time though unfortunately.

Why did you sell the integrale?

The 458 is stunning. Escort is very tidy also.

Yes, 15400, I made a thread for it in the main watch forum.

Seriously though, some stunning cars there.

I note no Porsches. Any particular reason?

I'll offend somebody so sorry in advance - they've never really floated my boat, I'm an Italian passion man rather than German perfection! They do make some great cars though of course.

Have you owned a Tamora. I'm sure the picture of the lights and exhaust after the Integrale is one.

Some gorgeous cars there, I used to have an integrale (16v pre evo). Never lived up to the legendary status for me. Mine was a fragile thing with electrical grmelins aplenty. I remember having to shave bobbles off the alcantara side bolsters, having to bang the rear lights to get them to come on some nights and how there was absolutely no room under the bonnet to get to anything when it was playing up. Probably livable with as weekend plaything, not much use as reliable daily transport.

Yes the Tamora was the first TVR I owned - brilliant car, the Speed Six is a fantastic engine (when not blowing up). Ultimately the Tam was a tad too, I dunno, feminine looking for me though to be a keeper.

It's frightening how the value of air cooled Porsches have rocketed over the years.

I'm a big VW and there was a mk2 golf variant in Europe called the rallye, not too dissimilar to the integrale. Not as famous tho by any stretch. The value of them has also reached dizzy heights due to supply and demand. Spare parts are outrageously priced also.

I'd love a SWB Quattro, the s2 engine is possibly the best noise I've ever heard, very closely followed by the S4 integrale. Group B was savage.

Yes I'm a huge Sport Quattro fan as well, I have fond memories of soggy Sundays stood in muddy parks watching the RAC Rally in the early 80s - bonkers money now though for one of those.

The Golf Rallye was available in the UK too wasn't it? Square arches like the old Audi Quattro's if memory serves me correct.

I believe it was but only in tiny numbers, the GTI dominated here of course.

Not really to be honest, well engineered cars but the designs don't really do it for me. I'd also worry a bit about servicing and repairs (I had a good TVR specialist near me when I had those!).

Occasionally, although I realised eventually that convertibles aren't really my thing. I also like a big loud engine! Lovely handling cars though, and a bargain for an older one.

That Integreale is YUMMY! And indeed the Escory. Funny to see the amount of space in the engine bay.

Indeed, and it's a "huge" 2 litre motor (a replacement for the original 1600). They don't make 'em like that any more, that's for sure.

You have certainly have the same eye for the best of the TVR world. There is a very obvious link between the Griffith and the Tamora. I can also understand your foray into the murky world of S6 with the Tuscan once you made the leap to the Tamora.
I own a Griffith 4.3 and have often wondered and dallied with the though of moving into something newer but the lure of the V8 is too strong for me.

I'm sure you've enjoyed your collection so far as you seem a real enthusiast and long may it continue.

What a great collection of cars over time. The shade of red of the Ferrari is just beautiful.

LOL - I know that Andy!

My justification to my wife for buying the CS back in the day was that it would become a future classic......!!! I sold it within a year of buying it & lost a chunk of cash......!!

Here's me winning a track day....

Lovely collection and like everybody, love that Integrale - I only ever had a couple of Beta Coupes!

    Cheers

Awesome picture! Yes very similar story to mine then, painful, I really miss that car :-(

(Having said that the 458 is amazing, and the wife likes it a lot more than the CS, so first world problems!)

It's a great car, does the family + dog thing really well, yet screams to 8500rpm in nutter mode when I'm on my own.

I miss my Griff, cracking car ... totally different character to the S6 engined cars though of course. Both are brilliant in their own way, RIP TVR :-(

V8 Vantage, my first "exotic" I guess you'd say. Lovely car, but from a driving/engineering/performance point of view a league behind Ferrari. A good GT/posing car though!

The Mexico is my favourite, and a car I hope to keep forever and pass on to my son. It's not show car perfect by any means, but it's nice and original bodywork wise, with appropriate period upgrades (2 litre Pinto, five speed box, LSD). It gets driven properly too, albeit only on nice days - it's a beautifully balanced car and fantastic fun to drive, 110 bhp only, but that's enough to get it nicely sideway (on a private test track officer), and at "safe" speeds too ... the complete opposite to the Ferrari of course.

(I've also dropped the stickers now by the way, not sure what I was thinking!)

Love the 458 and the Integrale.

I always said I'd never bother buying a modern supercar if I won the lottery (the only way I'd ever be in a position to do so), but I briefly drove a 458 Speciale and I have to admit, it was the best car I've ever driven.

I'd probably have one if I had the money.

I almost DID buy an Integrale, but after a 120MPH test drive on the A30, I decided I'd probably lose my license within a week if I bought it, so I didn't!
