    New member intro

    Hi all,

Just thought I'd introduce myself as a new member here. Sadly, I can't bring tonnes of knowledge or experience as I'm only just starting to get into watches but this seems like a good place to learn!

My current watches have a high point of an Omega Seamaster Deville through to my Grandad's old MuDu (which keeps fantastic time) and assorted other things like a Citizen Eco Drive E870.

The Omega was a decent find after taking the Mudu to be serviced at a local jewellers. Mentioning that someday I'd like to get an Omega, he popped into the back and returned with this SD, which he let me have for just over £400. Fearing it might be a Franken, I had the numbers checked with Omega's verification service and it all matched up!

The 30 Jewel MuDu Incabloc Automatic seems to be another one that backs up the legend of watches being sold under the tables of pubs, being my mining Grandfathers, in Sheffield.

My current yearning is for a Seiko 6138-8020 panda. It's been furstrating to find that despite it being described as a great choice for very little money, the ones I've seen recently have gone for double the suggested price of some guides. If anyone has any guidance, I'm all ears!

    Anyway, hi all!

    Leon

Hi from Bristol. Welcome to the forum.
Seems like you a new sports/dive watch to help round your collection.
Perhaps the Panda you're after will come up in the sales corner when your post count is higher, or you could check on 'watchrecon'

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Regarding pics, the only ones I have to hand at the moment are from when I had the Omega serviced with thewatchguy, a while ago.

Pretty sure I shot the MuDu at some point too. I'll have a look.

    Welcome.

You might want to have a go on the search function for some guidance on the Seiko 6138 - Buying an early Seiko (any early Seiko) is a minefield, and they've climbed in value over the last couple of years, thereby increasing the likelihood of buying something cobbled together in a back street sweatshop in the Philippines. Buyer beware, and all that - eBay is your enemy.

Cheers. Yes, I've read that ebay is not the answer. I can't help but guess that the watch sites are probably reasonably full of dodgy stuff too but I guess I'll have to learn!

Just knocked off a couple of photos of the Omega and the MuDu.

I purposefully didn't include the Eco Drive, Gul or 20 year old dodgy fakes... ;)

Hello Leon, welcome to the forum. Hadn't heard of MuDu before so had to google it. Interesting I must say http://www.thewatchforum.co.uk/index...-mudu-watches/
Nice Seiko (had to google it as well!)

Yeah, the vintage MuDu watches do seem to have a bit of "mythology" behind them, which adds to the fun. As I say, mine keeps brilliant time and has a family connection so, in many ways, it's more important than the Omega.

Welcome from another newbie. Frighteningly addictive this watch obsession

Have been spending a lot of time the last week or two looking at this forum and watches in general. My better half is beginning to get suspicious.

    Love that Omega BTW.
