I thought my suggestion for the title of a thread like this was better (The Dead Thread)
A place to mourn the passing of the notable, notorious or otherwise newly-departed.

I thought my suggestion for the title of a thread like this was better (The Dead Thread)
Is this for notification or nomination?
A place to gather all RIP's together for a collective outpouring of grief, sycophantic blathering and irreverent observations with of course the resultant howls of righteous indignation at the lack of grovelling respect shown?
Sounds like a good idea to me.
Death fans are likely to continue starting new threads though - sometimes multiples re the same stiff celeb so its likely to turn into a kind or parallel 'draft thread' type commentary on these.
Freddy's dead, that's what i said...
How's Sir Stirling doing?
"A man of little significance"
Some white ball flogger has croaked and yet another new thread has been started do people not scroll down the screen ?
Never heard of the dude anyway but condolences to his nearest and dearest.
Celebrity death fans and RIP thread enthusiasts might find the following information useful as regards preparing their posts in advance
Kirk Douglas 101
Vera Lynn 100
Billy Graham 99
Lord Carrington 98
Peter Sallis 96
Prince Philip 96
Dennis Norden 95
Stan Lee 95
Olivia De Havilland 101
Bob Dole 94
Jimmy Carter 93
Leslie Philipps 93
Robert Mugabe 93
Bob Barker 94
George Bush 93
Honor Blackman 92
Hugh Hefner 91
Jerry Lewis 91
Sandy Gall 90
Quite a few in their 80's are probably worth a quick draft whilst a number in their 70's could gain RIP fans a quick win re a rapid post.
Good luck death fans - keep monitoring those news feeds and remember to get in quick with your posts!
It's only polite to quote your source.
https://deathlist.net/
Only Kirk Douglas has only just turned 100. He won't be 101 until December.
Could make all the difference!
I'm going early:
R.I.P Phil Mitchell
How can Honor Blackman be 92?!!! My tongue was wagging at her in high school!
Regarding this thread...it won't work! When someone of note dies, a post in this thread would hardly sound any alarms. Sorry...
Damn, I had been hoping to give the impression of being one of the death cognoscente but I have been exposed as a fraud
I know no more than your average Joe and am just as reliant on G&D RIP threads for my daily (sometimes hourly) updates on which celebrities are now pushing up the daisies

Sad news. I grew up listening to / watching / [sleb]. Thoughts are with the family.
I find these obituries hyper hypocritical.
Someone comes on wailing about the death of someone, that the world will be a poorer place for their passing and they will be missed etc etc.
They never mentioned the person before and almost certainly will have forgotten about them in a few weeks time.
It is just playing to the gallery, pure and simple.
Mick, your technique still needs work but that is a solid 4/10.
Gordon Kaye Allo allo died today I will say this only once
He will sooly be mossed.
Especially by ze Madonna with ze big whatsits.
Off on a bit of a tangent, whilst looking up a few things related to the 1960's film 'The Italian job' this morning I noted that Maggie Blye, the actress who played Lorna, Charlie Croker's girlfriend died last year. Ive no idea what she was like as a person but find her most alluring every time I watch the film
She certainly perked up old Victor as well
A post to commemorate the passing of actor Miguel Ferrer. You probably don't know his name, but you probably do know his face.
Here he is in Robocop:

Kurtwood Smith shot him in the kneecaps
Mind you he had managed to snort some cocaine off a hookers chest earlier that evening so every cloud
He looks very much like his father

Surprised not to see a Mary Tyler Moore thread today
/\ /\ /\
Me too. Lovely looking woman in her day. Canny, too.
Bit disappointing to have to find out from the beeb; standards slipping a bit, lads.
Mary Tyler Moore
TV icon Mary Tyler Moore died on Wednesday after being hospitalized in Connecticut, her rep confirmed to The Huffington Post. She was 80.
“Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile,” her rep Mara Buxbaum told The Huffington Post in a statement.
Perhaps the OP should re-title the thread, the ''grumpy old buggers'' thread has a certain ring to it.

Self explanatory really.
The bizarre thing about this site is that the lead singer of the popular beat combo 'Dead or Alive' is not listed as becoming dead which he foolishly did recently.
One of the all time greats, David AXELROD, died on Sunday... was lucky enough to see him around 10 years ago at the Southbank and Richard Ashcroft jumped up on stage and joined in at one point
Heavily referenced by a number of modern artists and also heavily sampled (Madlib, Wu Tang and Dre to name but three)
Was the driving force behind the Electric Prunes and Lou Rawliins
managed to crossover between Jazz, R&B and rock overlayed with the most sumptuous orchestral arrangements
if you haven't heard of him... check him out

Prof Hans Rausing, the head of the family that became Britain’s richest thanks to his father’s invention of Tetra Pak food containers, has died aged 93.
I can’t see that clip at the moment as it’s the last post in the thread but if it’s the one I think it is, it’s my all-time favourite. Rest in peace.

Good grief, there'a a death list thread on TZ. I never knew that.
I used to frequent https://deathlist.net and enjoyed the rather black humour over there. I followed their prescribed method, whereby you picked 50 celebs and could carry over 25 survivors to the following year. I had a couple of good years with some high scores, I remember Tony Hart and John Mortimer went over one weekend in 2009, leading to an all time record 12 points. In 2010 I had a terrible year with only 2 points and decided to keep the list running until they were all gone.
So from 2010 - I still have three remaining.
Prince Philip (98) - Kirk Douglas (102) - Olivia DeHavilland (103).
I'd had a bet with a friend that Frank Kelly, aka Father Jack would outlive them all, toilet duck being a marvellous preservative, but sadly it was not to be.
Perhaps it's time to consider a TZ tontine?

"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action."
'Populism, the last refuge of a Tory scoundrel'.
I play “DeadPool” with my mates every January.
£10 entry, choose a list of 10 “celebs” for the year, highest score of dead people wins the cash and a pint of all the entrants on New Year’s Eve.
You can only carry 3 survivors every year, we all submit the list onto a WhatsApp group nowadays and my list this year is:-
Kirk Douglas
Sean Connery
Doris day
Des O’Connor
Olivia DeHaviland
Robert Mugabe
Vera Lynn
Prince Philip
Leah Bracknell
Betty White
I got a cold one in Doris Day, but the best I had was 4 in 2016 (winning the title, cash and beers!)
