Easter Sunday sitting around...I got to thinking about Watch complications and what is everybody's favourite?
For me it's a GMT function,I'm not a pilot so I don't need it day to day but find it very useful when I'm abroad.

Power reserve on an automatic. I'm also partial to a moonphase, although it's a bit pointless as I don't suffer from lycanthropy.

Never had one, but am fascinated by them.
As a child, I had a watch (that would have cost peanuts) that had one and it captivated me.
Must get one someday.
Chronograph, especially with central minutes as well as seconds. So legible and practical
Date or Day/Date provided it's nicely located on the dial & the date wheel colour matches the dial.

Day and date windows let into a 1/10s chronograph sub-dial. Such a neat solution. 'Nuff said.

I had to Google that one - according to Wikipedia a complication is:
"Any feature in a mechanical timepiece beyond the simple display of hours and minutes"
If this is correct than a second hand is indeed one.
In which case its the only complication that I like.

Power reserved on mechanicals sadly missing on diver watches.
Date is near-essential but a day is pretty pointless unless its of the attractive kanji type.
Chronograph but only if its a 30 minutes full dial as 60mins seems so cramped/hard to read.
BTW are there perpetual calendars on mechanical watches or is it a quartz only thing?
Only one i have is a 90s titanium gmt seiko quartz.
I like a simple 2/3 hander, pam 372, B&R etc.

I try and steer away from most complications now and stick with a simple 3 hand watch, but I did like the small GMT hand/dial combo of my old JLC MC diving GMT. I'm also partial to a power reserve, and wouldn't say no to a minute repeater

A perpetual calendar is definitely the most useful in my eyes. Quite like these actually, taking the theme to the extreme.
I dispute this.
No matter what temperature you tell me a thing is (as if anyone actually cares) the moon is always going to be cooler.
Oh, and date is my favourite complication.
1) central seconds;
2) date; and
3) gmt.
It's just a matter of time...

I say power reserve on a manual wind. I like that it tells you something about the state of the watch as opposed to something the watch doesn’t care about, like the date. Since having a 10 day reserve I love winding it weekly.
Retrograde seconds hands are pretty cool.

Chronograph - genuinely useful (though an elapsed time dive bezel works almost as well, even if it's not a complication).
I'm in the 'no Date' camp also - for aesthetic & ease-of-setting reasons.
Otherwise, I'm not bothered - I change watches every few days and don't use a winder, so GMT, Calendar & Moonphase complications are nice, but a bit of a hassle in return for little utility (to me, at least).
A subtle Power Reserve would be very welcome on a lot of watches, though.
Not quite sure if this counts as a complication but although I generally prefer just hours, minutes and seconds (and put up with a date) I love the way the Saturdays and Sundays are shown in red on Seikos as though it's reminding me it's the weekend - always brings a smile to my face!
My favourite practical complication is a world timer (rather than GMT bezel). I use one regularly, controlled by a secondary crown which I prefer to twisting a bezel, plus you get the names of the cities to enjoy.
But with enough money I’d also throw in a foudroyante, a rattrapante chronograph and a gyrotourbillon. Not sure if one watch could actually accommodate all of that.
My dream is a minute repeater....then in order a perpetual calendar and a rattrapante..
Not sure if this counts as a complication as it's independent of the movement, but I really like using the slide rule on my navi for FX rates on holiday, so easy. The other 49 weeks of the year I really appreciate a date (which surprised me considering mobile, laptop, etc - I just always look at my wrist first!).
The complication I'd most like to have is a moonphase I think.
Definitely the minute repeater. A complication that is really totally pointless and such a whimsical thing of beauty. Technically speaking a chronograph is highly impressive, though maybe a bit 'boring'(?)

Ha, but not classed as a complication.
Trying to buy any Professional Series Rolex in SS, by walking in, paying and walking out with all the package.
Might not be the 'favourite' complication, but certainly one that taking up most of the bandwidth recently.
Personally I find it hilarious.
Split-seconds chronograph. No idea why - I barely have use for a standard chronograph!

A chronograph, its essential when I'm at motor racing events taking pictures and the races are only 15-20 minutes long. Also a date, not having one on my Tudor BB 36 stops me wearing it as often as I should.

Minute repeater and rattrapante/chronograph for me.
I believe Rolex did a rather interesting complication on the 5513 back in the early 70's. A gent called Roger/James could tell you all about it.
