    Looks like the Speedmasters are creeping back in to the collection.......

    I had 13 of these at one point, most full sets or with something different about them, FAP or Omani engraved etc.
    Sold all but 1 (among other brands) to finance a house move.
    Move is done, we are settled and very happy here.
    Recently I have noticed my love of these iconic pieces seems to be translated into a wee mini collection, so here we go.
    All different in their own way, but the devil is in the details;

    Edit once again I cannot copy and paste the image directly here, what a pain, sorry chaps.

    Lovely!.... Here's your pic embedded...

    EDIT: SNAP!... I would normally delete my duplicate.. but no, those deserve a double display!

    I like those. Could you run through what they are?

    Thanks guys, for the geeks, from left to right;

    145.022-69 "meister"

    145.022-69 2911 serial number with dark chocolate dial

    CK2998-61 birth year watch, the only one left from my original collection

    145.022-69 2960 serial number with galaxy chocolate dial

    The brown dials don't really show very well in the above photo, in the flesh they are quite lovely and brown, especially the "galaxy" one

    Are there any differences between the three '69 watches other than that coming about through patina?

    Very slight, as I said in my original post "all about the details"
    All the 3 X '69 dials/cases/inserts/hands are the same, however;
    The "Meister" one has an additional printed line on the dial from the retailer
    2911 serials tend to have one shade of brown
    2960 serials tend to have a lighter shade of brown
    2 of the inserts are faded, 1 to a brown shade, although all 4 are DON's

    The attraction if these models is that they are relatively affordable to buy, especially if the seller is not aware of anything special about their watch, but you need to be quick and know your stuff.
    I got one of the above that way, the other 2 I had to pay market value from another collector.
    (The same collector actually!)

    Hi Colin

    Good to see a ' family ' snap....

    2998 is a fabulous example and the 145.022-69 ' galaxy ' choco has the perfect tones to it.

    Make sure you wear them !

    Best - Neil

    Lovely Colin,

    The CK2998 1961 is also a birth year for me as well.

    What about a full SOTC ?

    Sold a rough 2998 FAP and 145.022 with Omani royal crest engraving for around £11k the pair to a dealer at the same time.

    It is 100% original apart from the crystal, according to Moonwatch Only, for any burgeoning Speedy collectors, it really is the bible.

    What a bunch of beauties. I'd settle for any one of them, but as said that 2998 really is on another level.

    Super collection - love them all but particularly the 2998 (I also have a 2998-61 but with Alpha subdial hands...and straight chrono hand).
