Fantastic news that her scans are clear, and a great gesture. I tried to buy one of those snorkel ii watches today so I am in!
This thread has run its course, but there is a second raffle to support two more of the charities that helped us, here: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...Harrison-books
Thanks again to everyone who took part, your contributions really make a difference.
Matthew
Many of you are aware that our youngest daughter, Laura, spent much of 2016 undergoing treatment for kidney cancer. For those with access to the Bear Pit, there is more information about Laura’s journey and the fantastic support that we received, here: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...rsonal-Message
Laura’s treatment finished this week, her latest scans are clear, and now it is time for us to give something back to the charities and hospitals that gave us immense practical and psychological support. First up are two brand new Bulova UHF watches being raffled for CLIC Sargent and Alder Hey Children's Charity. I’ve run this by Eddie and have received his backing.
To take part, please post in this thread and voluntarily donate a suggested £5 per entry to Laura’s fundraising page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fund...?pageUrl=Laura
Feel free to take part multiple times and if you are not interested in the prizes, you are welcome to donate anyway!
Please include your TZ-UK user name in the comments if it's not obvious.
I’ll maintain a list of the participants here and will let this run for 10 days to maximise the fundraising potential. Laura will personally draw the winner and runner-up on 21 January.
I will cover postage, to anywhere in the world.
The Prizes:
Winner
Bulova Accutron II Men's UHF Quartz Watch with Black Dial Analogue Display and Silver Stainless Steel Bracelet 96B208
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bulova-Accu...SAP548KHVD19GJ
**** WatchGecko 20mm orange stitch rallye strap added to the first prize, see Post #49 ***
Runner-Up
Bulova Military Men's UHF Quartz Watch with Black Dial Analogue Display and Green Canvas Strap 96B229
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bulova-Mili...SAP548KHVD19GJ
Both of these highly regarded watches were purchased in an Amazon sale in September 2016 with the intention of raffling them for charity when Laura’s treatment was complete. They are both brand new and have not been worn. The Snorkel is still sealed in cellophane; I only removed the sticker from the Military to take the photograph. The seconds hands are sweeping nicely.
To be clear, once won the new owner can do exactly as they wish with the prize. I'm quite happy for them to sell immediately at the going rate on SC if it's not their cuppa. If either watch remains unclaimed after a month I will re-run the draw.
Thanks, Matthew

Hi Matthew... donated as requested...
Always happy to support this kind of thing having been through anxious times with niece a few years back (now recovered and in her final year @ uni)
Delighted to hear that Laura's on the mend and has completed her treatment
Clic sergeant are great and supported Louise before
Ben
I don't want any of the watches but would certainly make a donation to celebrate this splendid piece of news. Hope she continues to do well.
This is a great news.....all the best for everything...already donated of course....Cheers
Pleased to add my Fiver - every little helps!
I'm in for £10.00. Such great news for your family - having lost a friend to bladder cancer recently it's wonderful to hear good news and always happy to support such excellent charities.
Kind regards,
Simon
Great news for all concerned. £10 donation made. What a fantastic way to start 2017!
I think you might be kept busy keeping your list up to date Matthew!
I'm in for a tenner and well done Laura, so proud.
Glad to hear all worked out OK, must have been a hell of a time for you. I'm in, donation on way.
Happy to donate, and I am glad your daughter is doing well.
As someone who has seen family members battling cancer several times (including currently) I am only happy to help the fight against an awful disease.
(No need to enter me in to the raffle)

Glad she's doing well Matthew. I've made a donation but won't participate in the raffle.
All the best,
Hidde
£5 added.
It was wonderful to read that Laura's final scan was clear. You may recall that I'm one of the other parents going through a similar journey with my son. The photo of Laura "ringing the bell" filled me with hope and joy for Laura. We hope to be doing the same next year when Nathan's 3.5 years of treatment ends.
I wish you, Laura and the rest of the family a happy and healthy future.
Hey Matt,
I lost a vision earlier this year to lukemia, so happy that your daughter has come out on top.

I had one of those last year and sold it and what a good watch it was and all for a good cause.
Thanks Mark
This has struck a chord with me having become a father for the first time in April last year to a gorgeous little girl.
Well done and congratulations on the all clear.
A great cause, I'm in for a tenner.
All the best going forward.
Nik.

£10 from me, too.
I've been following your posts, Matthew. So glad there is some good news.
£10 in from me.
Fantastic news... cancer had always seemed quite distant to me until recently but in the last few months it has affected several people that I know including close family. Happy to donate to such a good cause!
Great news Matthew..glad to hear it. When I've found where I left my wallet I will add to the fund.
Great news that her treatment is finished. I remember that feeling very well from my own Chemo & Radio a few years back.
The 4 YO daughter of very close friends of our family is currently undergoing chemo for leukaemia so I know how hard this can be on little ones and their parents. Clic Sargent have been brilliant for their family too so I'm more than happy to donate here.
I hope you get a response rate worthy of the cause from the forum - actually I'm confident you will.
£10 from me.
Congratulations on getting the all clear that's the most important thing
I'm in, well done Laura!
Thanks to all for the fantastic response so far! I'll update the list later.
Don't just do something, sit there. - TNH
Hi Matthew, glad everything is clear!
£10 from me.
A worthy cause very close to my own heart as my son is in having his 5th round of chemo for brain cancer at the moment.
Mark

Happy to help two good causes
£10 from me.
Laura, I'd prefer the Accutron please.
have just donated £10 and a pleasure to do so
please include me in the raffle but if I win, please auction off the watch to highest bidder
Been following your posts; my 17 year old was pretty ill when he was 6 and its a lifelong condition but his bravery, resilience and fabulous NHS support since (the old Booth Hall in Manchester and then Manchester Children's Hospital deserve a big shout) have made our journey a relatively easy and at times uplifting one. So in a very small part I can imagine what you have been through, and hope that everything turns out well.

You have both been very much in my thoughts and I'd like to say a big 'thank you' for sharing your experiences. I wish you and your families the very best, strength during the difficult times and many positive experiences along the way to full recovery. Please stay in touch.
Matthew
Congratulations on your fantastic news Laura. £10 donation made.
A worthy cause and one I'm happy to support. Best of luck to Laura, you and the rest of your family!

Way to go Laura and it's truly heart warming to hear the news!
All best wishes

Great news!
I've now updated the list from Laura's fundraiser page, I think it all matches up correctly but please let me know by PM if I have made any errors.
And thanks for all the lovely messages, what a great forum this is.
Matthew
My niece fully recovered from leukaemia and it was a real trial for both parents and child.
Congratulations on getting through it all.
£10 in and good luck to Laura
BillyCasper and zoiksy have both been in touch by PM and have kindly made donations. Thanks gents, and to all of the generous participants so far!
This has completely exceeded our expectations after just two days. By way of thanks I'm adding a WatchGecko 20mm orange stitch rallye strap to the first prize, like the one in this photograph courtesy of Tooks:
Bulova Accutron Rallye Strap by iaintookey, on Flickr
Looks good, doesn't it? I'll order it for delivery directly to the winner.
Matthew
In. Great news BTW. And a great cause
