    Removing a date stamp

Apologies if this has been covered before,
Two years ago my mate took a photo of a Zebra whilst on holiday, ideally he wants to enlarge the photo and frame it, however it has a date stamp in the bottom left hand corner which he wants removing, any advice / help welcome.

Maybe if the background behind the date is a solid colour you could create a layer in PS and paint over it? Even if it's not, you could define a pattern that's taken from the background and paint over it?

He's going to need some form of image editing tool and the usual action with them is to either 'clone' or 'heal' over the timestamp.
