    Gentlemen. Behold....The 1970 MK 3 Cooper S

Ground up, bare metal restoration, heritage panels. Even has the period Dunlop allys & tyres. Matching number car, the 1275 originally tuned by Oselli. Only 1500 or so made, half went for export. This one is heading across the pond soon, so enjoy!

    Thats beautiful!

I passed my test in a Mini and went to own a couple, an 850 and 1000 - I would probably struggle to get in and out of one these days

As I recall, the original intention back in 1958 was for the body shells to be smooth with no seams - however this was deemed to be too expensive so they went into production with them.

Nice! The MK3 was also the end of the external hinges and the slidings door windows. My mum had a MK2 and later a MK3. I vaguely remember that the 3 shifter worked better than on the 1 and 2.

Rebuild looks great. What country is it going to?

Very nice I had a late Mini 1990 vintage wheezy 998 bought it bran new and ran it for a year then sent it to Richard Longman for one of his 1380 fast road engines plus suspension and brake mods what a flier it was would leave your XR2/3 for dead back in the day

Lovely really lovely. I always liked the looks of the mk3 the best particularly with the over-rider bumpers.

Same year I was born, alas the Mini is ageing rather better than I am !

I had a couple of Minis and an MG Midget early in my driving days and have a similar thought whenever I look at them now, the second thought being the detrimental effect my 50 year old bulky frame would have power-to-weight-wise on the little A Series' efforts at propulsion.

Has that got the straight cut gearbox in that year? Too long ago for me to remember!

Very nice, but it really needs Minilites to finish it off IMHO.

They're the original Dunlop alloys I think?
The MK1 and possibly the MK2 had Minilites, not sure about the MK3.
Minilites were a pain in the arse, as brittle as buggery.

Interesting, I had a mate who would cut the seams off and weld up the panels from the inside, I always thought they looked much better.

    Aaarrgggghhhhh!!!

I cannot abide them & if I did'nt need the conversion kit I'd bin the ones on mine & put the Revo's that came with the S on toot suite.

    See me after school.

Indeed they are, and with you on the mininotrites.

De seaming does look the part but this needed to be 100% factory.

Thanks for the kind words lads, just wish it was mine!

Lovely job. Whenever I see an old mini I just cannot get my head around how small they are comparitive to modern cars.

My dad raced cooper"s" in the 60's 998,1071 and 1275cc all factory race engines and all had Minilites on.

For the past 50 years, I have considered Minilites as the ONLY way to shod a Mini Cooper!

I had a 1275GT back in the day in mind shattering orange and black stripes! Went well with my beige suit, bubbly hair and gold plated chronograph!

    Lovely that Bongo

My crappy old mini that I brought from a mate for £100

I had to park it on a slope and start it off bobsleigh style by diving in and jump starting it

    Loved it though...

Me and all my mates had minis as our first cars apart from one weirdo with a Beetle ;-) One of them was de-seamed and we were all really jealous at the time.

Nice one. I tuned up a few of those back in the day.

I think the early Minis were the first British car that created their own auto accessory line as they needed lots of bits and pieces to improve it.

The rubber kits for the distributor/coil to stop it getting flooded.

The extra long switch extenders so you could use them whilst driving.

The beefed up rubber kit for the engine stabiliser so the gearstick didn't fly away when you used the clutch.

And the chrome plastic seam kits so you could cover up the rust.

Happy memories though, my Mrs had a green Cooper with a white roof and I had the ubiquitous red with a black roof complete with floor starter push button!

Had to fit new rear subframes to both.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Now that would go down well in California. Except for those wheels!

Forgot to mention, the S has hydrolastic suspension, a totally different ride than the cones in my '89!

    Lovely Mk III.

My last "proper Mini" was a 1969 Mk II "S" with a 1293 Richard Longman Engine/Jack Knight box and an LSD. Evil to drive on the road because of the diff. but a great car -wish I still had it

Caught a Chasing Classic Cars over the break, Carini snagged a MK2 Cooper on the quiet, never seen him so excited, like a kid at Christmas!
After all the Ferrari's, Dusenburgs etc he's had, it gave me a warm glow😎

Those interested, Car SOS, series 4 episode 9. Just watched it, a Mk2 S gets the treatment😍 Done in 3 weeks, beats the 18 months this one took!

Love our mini but I think I might have to put her up for sale this year as she's just not fitting in with family life. Never drive it in rain and never comes out in winter.

I think it's time to move her on and get some kind of camper for family days out.

That is stunning. I had a 1975 original BL Mini; I now have an F56 JCW. I tip my hat to you sir.

I love the idea of the spot light on the rear, I'd like to install one on the rear of my cars linked to a switch for when being followed by morons with their fog lights on in perfectly good weather; there is a growing trend for this illegal and annoying behaviour.
