    Just not sure

Picked this up yesterday, it's my first non-ss watch

Do you ever put a watch on your wrist that you really wanted and think 'I'm not sure if I like it' then find after a while that it becomes your favourite

I have a BLNR and a black sub date and I keep thinking I should have gone for a hulk or a ss Daytona

Yes, this definitely can happen. Sometimes just requires a different frame of mind or setting.

I'm not a massive fan of the watch in question but then again I don't like the Daytona generally!

The more you eat cabbage, the more you like cabbage and after a while you really like cabbage....

    Just me?

Seriously though, my favourite watch is the one when I put it on my wrist initially I was least moved. So just strap it on and wear it for a month... I bet you'll love it after this time period as it will be become personal to you.

If you need to go through this process I would suggest you've bought the wrong watch.

    Perseverantia.

    IMO it looks great.

I just don't think two-tone watches ever look better than a steel equivalent.

Yellow gold scream naff, and two-tone screams an owner who can't afford full-naffness!

If you have the option to wait, then give it a go, but should be more love at first sight rather than underwhelming at this level.
It's not helping that your photos don't put the watch in the best light (literally; I think the white balance is off?)

edit: your picture in the new arrivals thread looks better:

Agreed. I have either researched and perved over a watch for ages before buying or buy on impulse. Flipping rate is about the same though which is why I (almost) never buy new!

much prefer a baton dial daytona to one with numerals but otherwise I think a TT Daytona is one of the better TT Rolex models - the black-dial one released this year is really nice.

Looks bloody gorgeous to me! The problem i face is that the ss model is so nice, I'm not sure I could justify spending more on the two tone that I like marginally less.

I am probably not the most helpful person here as I had a TT Daytona and let it go, only to lust after a SS model which I now have. You did buy it because it is different and it certainly is. Why not give it time and see if you can grow to love it, otherwise bring on the flip...

looks a bit tacky as if keep adding more will improve it, it does not............

Not for me, bit too bling and busy. But wear it for a while and see if it grows on you.

It's the dial that puts me off, rather than the two-tone.

Not my cup of tea, but I ain't drinking it. I would give it some time first and it is nice to have something a bit different in the collection after-all!

  19. #19
Very nice and excellent choice. It takes some time to get used to bi-metal if you're used to SS. But this is a very nice, bold and beautiful watch, contemporary and less likely to fly under the radar of non wis humans than any SS model. This watch can attract attention, which is what we want, if we all could be honest.

The blue Arabic dial is my favourite on a Daytona, a watch I don't really like that much. I also like gold and two tone, it's just a matter of tastes differing. But, it sounds like you have made a mistake from your question.

  21. #21
its strange - the white gold one with arabics that has gone round the forum (the one JC180 had) .... was fabulous.

This one with the two-tone, blue and red hands and the very obvious arabics is just too busy for me.

It was a prize from work
    And I picked it

I opted for this one because it's different to any of my other watches.....I have a black sub date and a BLNR which I love....

If I get the hulk am I just showing a preference for that generic watch??

Thought I was in the BP for a moment!

I like most varieties of Daytona but the over-sized Arabics on that one make it look a bit "My First Rolex", and it lacks subtlety.

It's a very strange thing that some watches instantly grab one by the heartstrings when they arrive (sometimes to lose their grip - sigh!), others just creep up on one, whilst some never quite get there, even though they seemed necessary for one's further comfortable living!

I like the bi-metal Daytona but I don't like this dial, far too busy for me and I don't like the numbers.

Forget the steel version, too much hype at the moment has resulted in stupid prices. 12 months ago a lot of folks were dismissing the steel Daytona (too small.....needs replacing.....) but now everone's fawning over them and wishing they owned one.

If I was looking to buy a Daytona it would be the bimetal with white dial.

    Good logic, I like it

Hopefully by the time you get the call the value of the discontinued models will exceed the RRP of the new Ceramic. But when the watch is on your wrist, call up a good clear image of the ceramic and compare. I am not sure that I would want to swop now.

Yellow gold watches just dont do it for me, and I cant afford white gold anyway. But if it is your thing then go with it.

I always think if I am spending a lot of money, if I am not sure its not for me.

    Just not sure

Not laughed so much in ages

The compare was trying to announce the awards and she strolled up and grabbed the Mike and she was as hammered as I've EVER seen anyone holding a Mike.....she kept saying
"shut up booing me you little f****rs, I do loads of work for charity and have a disdabled (yeah DISDABLED with an extra d) son, you don't know how hard it is!"

    She was odious
