6B and 6BBs' General Service watches were issued in reasonable quantities under RAF management codes 6B, 6BB & 6bb between 1965 and 1984. Leaving pilots and navigators out of this discussion, who might the recipients of general service watches have been in the RAF?

Here's a rough estimate of the numbers issued as far as I can see, not including CWC or Pulser issues after 1984. If MOD's numbering system is sequential that's in the order of 20,500+ watches over a period of 20 years.

1965 Hamilton 6B/910-1000 H 3,200pcs
1967 Hamilton 6B/9614045 H-67 1,000pcs
1967 Smiths 6B/9614045 1,000pcs
1968 Smiths 6B/9614045 250pcs
1974 Hamilton (Tonneau) 6bb-5238290 3,000pcs
1974 Hamilton Geneve 6bb/5238290 2,800pcs
1975 Hamilton 6BB-6645-99-5238290 1,500pcs
1975 Hamilton Geneve 6BB/523-8290 800pcs
1976 Unknown 6BB/523-8290 2,000pcs (1976 sterile)
1979 CWC 6BB-6645-99-523-8290 2,400pcs
1983 CWC Quartz 6BB/6645-99-541-5317 800pcs
1984 Precista Quartz 6BB/6645-99-541-5317 1,800pcs

Any serving or ex RAF personnel here who might be able to shed some light who was issued with general service watches and provide more factual information? The RAF in the 60s' and 70s' was quite a sizeable force in terms of aircraft types, squadron strengths and number/location of operational bases so their use could have been quite wide spread.

I'm guessing that some or all of the non-flight deck crew of the larger aircraft may have been issued with a watch for common time keeping purposes. To give an idea of numbers some of the aircraft were crewed like this (info from Wikipedia so no factual details).

Hastings/Brittania transport (4 - 7 crew)
Shackleton anti-submarine (10 crew)
Nimrod anti-submarine and airborne early warning (13-15 crew)
VC10 transport
VC10 tanker
Lockheed Tristar transport
Lockheed Tristar tanker
C-130J (5 crew)

Then you have the RAF Regiment, a quasi army in blue, who may have been issued general service watches like their army (W10) counterparts and also RAF police and other units etc.

p.s. I started a similar thread on MWR and post here for TZ-UK military watch enthusiasts.
