The 'what ever happened to?' Thread.

    Friends Reunited?

Just looking at a class photo from 1982 someone has put on Facebook and it made me think - I guess it was Facebook that wiped it out.

Yup, they couldn't compete. It didn't help that the original founders sold it to ITV. It seems to me that larger companies like ITV often lack the flexibility to know how to innovate flexibly with web properties such that they can remain relevant. It's very sad. There's an awful lot of data on FR and there seems to be no way to get it out (other than photos) although I can understand there might be DPA difficulties.

He came to a pitiful end. Some deeply unpleasant disease not unrelated to booze, IIRC.

The founders sold it and the buyers never did/unable to do anything with it and later offered it back to the founders. But social media is now the thing and overtook it.

Bear in mind that FR was social media! It pioneered the social graph concept (although didn't use that term as far as I know) before Facebook got to it. It just, as you say and as I mentioned above, failed to evolve when in ITV's ownership.

Proper collar bacon at the Co-op, cut to order on the bacon slicer, almost purple with creamy fat. Armour baked beans, big with tasty sauce, lovely with aforementioned bacon.

Plus 1 for The mighty Texan bar " a last request gringo"
    Sure was a mighty chew

Floral gums, which you can still get in some old sweet shops.

Fruit salads and blackjacks which are making a comeback

Raving bonkers, the boxing game I had as a kid where you could literally knock your opponents block off with a sharp left hook, well that of their plastic robotic boxer. Hours of fun.

Probably in a zoo with the Hofmeister bear and Rupert.

I was at school with the daughter of the guy who invented Cresta Bear, and the Smash 'Martians'. Years later in the 90s I walked into an office at work to see two of the Martians stuck behind a filing cabinet. I hope they aren't landfill now.

Whatever happened to wrapping the gift when attending a child's birthday party? Now it seems normal for the present to be just shoved into a gift bag, suggesting that a pit-stop has been made en-route to buy both.

Crusader dark lager? I think it was brewed by Bass.
