Omega Grey Side of the Moon 'meteorite' Dial

Guys what do you think of this? I love it! At £9,875 RRP it's steep but it can be had for a fair bit less than that.

I tried one on a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it. The dial is stunning. Not overly keen on the grey leather strap - I would like to see how it looks on the black strap that comes on the Dark Side of the Moon.

I thought I had found an AD selling a new one for £4900 and placed the order only for them to contact me later and tell me it was out of stock!

If you decide to buy one and then flip it a few days later at one of your bargain prices can I be first in line please?

Its a little bit crazy but I really like it, but at nearly £10 grand however much I like a watch I just couldn't bring myself to do it, trinkets and baubles just aren't that important.

I do like that , I would like it even more without the 18k gold finish. But either way, it is very special .

I can get it at c £6k by the way so worth considering that as the price not the £10k RRP.

Choice between this or a SM300, Speedy Pro and Cobra Yellow Avenger Seawolf. 1 awesome watch or 3 good watches

I think it's rare that the story behind a special ed feeds so seamlessly and beautifully into the end result. That unique dial is fascinating and a great piece of space history to boot. I'm not usually big on gold, but it seems perfect with that cool grey. I'd love to see it in the flesh.

I say buy it and then, since we both live in a Kingston, come and show it to me over a beer!

I love that piece and I'm not really a bit fan of anything with sub-dials (though I keep trying!). Think I've a thing for grey watches at the moment though so that doesn't help as this is one of the nicest I've seen.

I'd pick the one special watch over the three.

I think I prefer this to the dark side and if you can get it for 6k then I'd have it over the others.

The gold ruins it for me. Nasty.

Agh! This thread has set me off.......I love the idea of a bit of meteorite as a watch face. Probably a bit tacky (the gold) but most of us have the odd Ratner moment.

    I absolutely love it Ryan.

I am desperately trying to stay the course for one awesome watch rather than vinny's lovely recent sales post and the fabulous cobra sea wolf....

Definitely try to stay on target for the omega. All the elements combine really nicely, particularly the gold accents imho

Tried one on a few months ago, didn't like it or the price but for less than £5k could be tempted

It has a Ceramic case doesn't it. I tried on the normal GSOTM in Goldsmiths and found the whole watch incredibly light, it just wasn't for me. Stunning dial though. I will hold out for the blue faced Moonphase due out soon.

  18. #18
I like it Ryan. Although you've picked three crackers to have in its place which is what I would probably go for

I would go for the 1 awesome watch, it's an absolute cracker. Meteorite face and the gold look great together.

Totally ruined by the date window, IMO. Otherwise, nice save for the price.

Have you passed over the plain 'grey side' non-meteorite dial?

Omega Grey Side of the Moon 'meteorite' Dial

Damn it the pics of the SM300 in the thread have made me want to get one of those again on a NATO. So that and either a Speedy Pro and the Seawolf or the SM300 and an Air King instead. Just worried having seen Atari Power's pic that it may be a bit blingy. And now that Tony pointed out the date window I can't stop seeing it :(

I had grey side and also dark side (twice!) but flipped them as I never really bonded. I just fancied the dial on the meteorite

It's funny isn't it... I love the date window. Everyone is different. However I think we probably all agree the price is a bit spicy! Truly lovely watch though

Doesn't do it for me at all I'm afraid - I'd go with the new deep black given the choice.

If you flipped a grey side already then I'd give this one a miss then. SM300 sounds good, not sure about the Air King still and although I love the yellow dial the Avenger is just too big and tall for me. Completely different and you've probably already had one but right now in the Omega lineup I keep finding myself drawn to the white/silver Globemaster or strangely the Good Planet AT.

...and now that date window has been pointed out I can't help but focus on that... why!

I have always quite fancied the 35th anniversary Soyuz version with the meterorite dial:

    https://www.omegawatches.com/news/news-detail/1745/

They seem to be rather expensive now but a bit less grey than the GSOTM!

Very slow sellers and at the time had an RRP of £5700 which was double the cost of the Speedmaster Professional moonwatch.

Current prices probably reflect an increase in the base price of the Speedmasters and possibly piggy backing off of this years Snoopy as collectors wade into the limited editions?

Still it's a cracking watch, the GSOTM looks great too, I'd find it hard to resist at £6k.

They have one in the window of Whittles in Preston. I gaze longingly at it most lunchtimes.

    RRP but they're doing 0% so £200 a month for 4 years.

I know what I would do but I am biased...

The dial is lovely but I don't like the gold.

Either way it's a nice problem to have.

I am going to have a look , and compare with the other Speedmaster options, on Thursday. I suppose, in the end, the standard Speedmaster professional, manual wind, is closest to the looks and spirit, of the original. Or that is what I keep telling myself.

At less than a third of the price or more I think you are giving yourself good advice.

Date window looks a bit odd, but then so does the famed cyclops. I live the hands though and the great strap finishes it of niceley.

Had a look in the metal today, very nice indeed but I felt a little bit too eye catching in a 'bling' way. So my eye wandered, and bizarrely a watch I have owned twice before spoke to me again, but more from a position of me being really able to appreciate the high quality finishing and the fact I believe it's the best watch out there in this particular style.

    So here's what came home with me;

    Very nice Ryan.

Picked up 2 Tudors over the last few weeks that I used to own, never appreciated them first time round, funny hobby.

I saw one of these in the Trafford Centre yesterday. Did look cool but I don't think I could live with it long term.

Way too many Speedy Ltd editions for my liking. Don't think you can beat the standard speedy pro man in the moon. What's next? The Waxing Gibbons of the Moon?

If you want to compliment Ryan on his watch, you have a 48 hour window.
After that it would be wingin its way to someone else's wrist:-)
