Seiko Watch Prospex Blue Lagoon Samurai

I've been tempted by the PADI when it has appeared on SC but haven't been convinced that I would like the case shape. However, after speaking to Jake about it in Jura in Leeds he showed me this on their website https://www.jurawatches.co.uk/collec...tions-srpb09k1. Apparently they had a pre-production at their recent event at Chatsworth. Did anyone see it and can comment on how it looks in the flesh? I'd be particularly curious about the light blue in the bezel - does it work?

While I was in Jura the Seiko rep came in. It looks like there will only be 250 of this model in the UK. In a long conversation he also said that Seiko will be going up across the board, possibly by 15%, in a couple of months. I asked about GS and he said they were still debating whether they should raise prices too.

I'm not sure about the blue on blue bezel although it doesn't look bad. I do like the Samurai, though. It's nice to see its return (with a better movement). It was always a popular watch when it was previously available (previously with the 7S26 if I remember correctly). I seem to recall that Samurais began fetching high prices so I reckon this limited edition will be popular.

I hadn't hear about the Blue Lagoon models, looks very smart. I am tempted!

Agree with the comment above, only negative is I am not 100% on the blue on the bezel, would need to see in person.

Saw this too, though I think £449 is just a little on the expensive side.

Nice but a bit too much blue for me and not worth a premium over the PADI IMHO.

As delivery will be after a price rise, they may have factored that in. I am a bit concerned about the blue but prefer the case shape of the £399 one to the PADI

The £449 one looks similar to the PADI

The blue Samurai version works better than the Turtle version to my thinking.

    I had a couple of Samarai's a while back - nice watches

Never understood why they stopped making the samurai in the first place. Prefer them in ti though.

Are there other colours coming as well?
I have the SS white sammy and I'd like to get the new one in white, too.
But if there aren't coming more colours, then blue lagoon it is :D

The rep didn't mention anything. However, he did say that Seiko UK have a meeting in December which is their route to communicate any customer requests into the corporate process.

I don't know if any of you have seen it but Horologii has done a pretty decent review on it. It gives a few more specs on the release

They'd done one on the new Turtle too now with some additional specifications.

Even with being limited to 6000 I'm not sure I would pay £450 for a turtle.

I'm personally more tempted by the Samurai but I'm not against the new Turtle at all. I don't think the price is too bad...

Seems like most/all of the recently announced Padi versions such as the Sumo and the SBBN039 Tuna will be Japan release only, thats the message from ADs in Thailand at least. I'm trying to get on the books for the tuna in Japan but many ADs seems to have already commited all of their stock.

After looking at both Turtle and Samurai, I ordered the Samurai. The Turtle didn't hit the spot for me with that colour combination.

The Samurai looks really nice in my opinion and, now that the PADI logo is getting plastered over everything, is worth the wait.

I would also like to say many thanks to JohnnyE for his code.

And they still are. There's one on eBay right now in very good condition, ending tomorrow, currently at £310. That's rather a lot for a 7S35-powered watch but it's such a desirable shape.

    ** edit **

    It went for £380.

    Anyone here? :-)

I buy watches to use rather than as investments and as such, although this is a pretty enough watch, I think it is stretching Seiko's value proposition a little thin at the RRP.
No doubt I will be mocked and shamed when the 250 UK watches are being traded at four figure sums, but I consider this is overpriced.

A 15% price increase seems a bit steep at first glance, although I don't remember when Seiko last raised prices like this? Certainly that level of increase will affect sales I'm sure - at least until Citizen etc follow their lead. 2017 may end up being a period of sales and consolidation for me rather than buying.

Had to order one also!! So now I have two new watches on the way!?!?
It's not even 2017 yet and I may have bought my first two watches of 2017 :-)
All depends on whether my Sinn arrives before the New year??

Anyone had a notification about arrival dates? I'm looking forward to seeing the Samurai in the flesh.

Depending on how I get along with the case shape will dictate whether I keep it or not. If it stays, the one thing I will get replaced is the hour hand. Not very keen on that stubby little triangle, and try to get something kin to the original shaped hand.

    Not yet.
I 'spoke' with Jura last week (via the chat on their website) and they didn't know at that time when they were getting them. It sounded like they won't get much notice themselves either.

Apparently, there are only 250 coming to the UK and 6000 worldwide which have all sold out.

If Jura took your deposit, is that a guarantee that you will get one do you think?

Still available (maybe) in the US and at a decent price too for our colonial cousins... http://www.riveredgejewelers.com/pro...watch-preorder

As they are a legit Seiko Retailer I would be very surprised if they didn't know their allocation before they took preorders. They're not like Amazon scrabbling round the European grey market.

Not a bad little saving for the North American boys and girls.

I wonder whether these aren't as popular as expected? I like the photos that are kicking around of the Samurai, it's just that hour hand that gets me at the moment. Might be OK when I get to see it for real though I suppose.
