There will always be some people who are constantly looking to be offended, this is just another example of that.

It's the Northern sence of humour. Some people just don't get it.

I would have thought that retro gay activist viewers would have been more offended by the camp stereotypes on the judges panel.

Lazy stale jokes from Peter Kay, whatever next.

He must have been warming them up beforehand because that bit was naff yet everyone was genuinely falling about with laughter. It was so bad it was cringeworthy.

    Fair point.

I came over all nostalgic though.

As a straight bloke who spent years working in and around Soho, in a creative industry with more than the average share of gay men, I find that kind of humour boring and old fashioned. I did notice it last night and it just reminded me why I'm no fan of Peter Kay - perfect for the 70's but humour has moved on. I wasn't offended I just didn't think it was funny. On the flip side I'm sick of the BBC shoehorning a gay character into every programme possible, Dr Who being the worst.

Has it though? Then Larry Grayson and John Inman. Now Alan Carr and Graham Norton.

    Hello

Yes but it's ok for those comedians to say and do that. Apparently.

If words or expressions are wrong then no one should be able to use them.

Usual case of people waiting to be offended by something and nothing.

How Graham Norton is still allowed on the television when he's not funny in the slightest. Is completely obnoxious and has delusions of grandeur. Rude to some BA girls at LHR who he seemed to think should show him some kind of deference because of who he thinks he is. At least Alan Carr and Peter Kay have some taken and are funny. Without defending too far into the gutter.

    Hello

Re shoehorning of characters. I agree. If the storyline lends itself then yes. But it needs to be semi plausible.

Noticeable in adverts now. I think in light of Brexit they have started using Eastern/Central European names alongside what could be perceived as traditional British names. Doesn't bother me just an observation. Interesting it is now and not 5 or 10 years ago. Could be just a coincidence but i doubt it.

Never seen it - I actually don't mind him as an actor in small doses.

Returning to it, I felt the first series was good, but that he was beginning to coast in the second.

I guess that its difficult to maintain the standard.

A little like Fawlty Towers - perhaps better to have left it at one series.

How can you not find him funny ? The amount of tenaman that I used over the years of watching him has gone through the roof. FAF.

I liked car share, but I'm not a big fan generally.

That looked a bit ill judged, but no more worthy of complaints than Bruno and Craig's constantly camp innuendo.

It worked because he had a strong script and he let his co-star become the comic and he assumed the role of straight man

I don't think it has, the UK's biggest comedy earners are Peter Kay, Michael McIntyre and John Bishop.

Although perhap's I'm a fan of 70's humour and Peter Kay. I liked Pheonix Nights, Max & Paddy and Car Share.

    Hello

Michael Macintyre seems to make a living by smiling and laughing at his own jokes and shouting at the audience.

Would have been no comments if he'd done what Peter Kay had done.

I don't find him funny in the slightest.

It it goes to show that going for the lowest common denominator is the recipe for success IMO.

Peter Kay isn't half as funny as he thinks he is, John "I'm a Scouser!" Bishop (from The Wirral) is only moderately amusing, and Michael McIntyre .... really? He is the biggest comedy draw in the country? Totally baffling to me.

+1, leaves me stone cold.... poor delivery, poor timing.. stupid grin, very predictable, and too full of himself. Most of the greats have gone now.. all thats left is the dregs of X Factor and the like. PK I don't mind, particularly his observation comedy.

I was watching Frankie Boyle on YouTube, and although he says some horrible horrible things, you can tell that he isn't saying them just to get cheap laughs. Jimmy Carr is similar, although less extreme.

Peter Kay is a good comic actor, but his stand up pretty much leaves me cold. Michael Macintyre has a face for punching.

    Ditto, bloody awful.

My Mrs had McIntyre on TV yesterday when I was trying to do my crossword.

    It was utter cak.

She likes Bishop as well - but then again she has no sense of humour.
    Cheers,

My wife really makes me laugh as do my work colleagues/friends and natural things that happen in everyday life, I am a sales rep and I have some great customers who I have a great laugh with so there is plenty to make me laugh but comedians don't do it for me at all they just leave me cold but I know I am in the minority :)

Ken was one of those rare comedians that only had to walk on stage and people started laughing (in a good way). He lived in Llandudno and was a popular local figure there, although shy he always wore his stage persona and entertained everyone who approached him.
