Having just bought the speedbird GMT I can tell you that it really is a great watch offered at an amazing price. But that MGT II has a nice pop of colour on the dial... A difficult decision!

On the face of it it seems like a no-brainer.
My head says the SB III my heart says the MGT II.
Both about the same size.
SB III, on one of the best bracelets out there.
MGT II, on leather.
SB III.....£480

MGT II...£1,115

I like MG but I find that model a little bland and the hands a little too slim for this style and size of watch. Taking into consideration the huge difference in price (as well as the bracelet on the SB), I would go for the Speedbird.

SBIII all day long, the 'orrible little MG ii date window in the jaws of the 3 is a real passion killer for me.
Why does your heart say MG?
is it because you genuinely like the look of it more or is it simply because you are drawn, lemming like, with the vacant glazed expression of a jaded watch collector, to the vastly conflated rrp and think 'WTF, I'm worth it'??
I'm coming to the conclusion that most of my watch purchases are emotional purchases.
Once the third watch box is full, one begins to feel like a suburban cut price Imelda Marcos.
If you can I'd definitely try and see both watches in the flesh before committing . Not so easy with an MG if one lives in the provinces though I know.
For my 2p the SB3 is a classic. To my eyes the GM is a ticking tautology. The horologischekrautboffins have made the dial as simple and clear as possible then filled it up with fussy script and irrelevant detailing.
Plus, as you've said, the SB comes with a decent bracelet. It also looks fantastic on a wide spectrum of other strap choices. It's a no brainer.

Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Not handled either but toyed with the SB3 a number of times.
I don't like the hands on the TerraSport, and certainly don't like the date window position. That's even before you consider the price difference.
On that basis, I'd go for the SB3
SBIII is a no brainer surely.
Quality product - check
Unobtrusive date window - check
Uncluttered dial - check
Hands the right style and width - check
Excellent bracelet and strap options -check
More to the point - what does your pocket say cos they're not exactly in the same ball park are they ?
Thank you all.
With a Jura discount of 10%, bringing the price down to just over £1k, and free P&P my mind was made up.

Good decision Dave. I like the simplicity of the MH enormously.
speedbird III for me, but i'd see if you can meet someone to try it on first as the bracelet (which is phenomenal quality) has no facility for micro adjustment and if you are between link sizes it's awkward. If it is a good fit it's only a hair off the seriously more expensive IWC in my opinion, especially if you can get the one with the higher end movement in.

marchingontogether!
I like how the MG looks, very sharp and simple. I would go for that one
I own the MG Terrasport II on steel. I looked at it recently and really perceived it as a profoundly beautiful watch.
It's a keeper for me.
