    Precista PRS-42 - B-UHR Limited Edition

    Wow!

Announcement from Eddy about the new Precista B-Uhr Limited Edition,
available as of Tuesday 25 October 2016...

    http://www.timefactors.com/precista.htm

    50 pieces ONLY

    Absolutely stunning!

As soon as I read it was a Unitas movement, I knew it would be way too large for me, but it is the right movement for this piece.
Fortunately it's too big for me ...because my budget doesn't swing to this beauty.

But let's get some real world pics from lucky owners!

Very handsome indeed. The "hacking @ 12" feature is great!

With only a limited number available I'm sure a few have already been snapped up by members. Which means we might get to see a few real world shots on the Friday thread. Can't wait...

Mine was shipped yesterday although not on a position to collect until tomorrow, so dodgy iPhone wrist shot should be available on Friday.

I'd have bought one myself but I just don't have the wrists for it. Shame as it's a beautiful watch - looking forward to seeing your iPhone shots...

If I was in the market for one of these B UHR watches, I'd be on this like white on rice. I considered ordering one anyway because of the movement and attention to detail, and current dollar value, luckily for my wallet, the ordering function is down at the moment.
Another strong piece from Eddie! Congrats!

This is a beautiful watch and kudos to Eddie for it.

As with others, despite admiring the photos, it will just look out of place on my puny wrist.

For those that can pull this off, enjoy !

It is a lovely piece, made all the more special by the movement. The side-by-side with the IWC shows the PRS-42 might have been better 3mm larger with shorter lugs to compensate, at least to my eye.

The Eagle has landed!, fantastic quality all round!

Number 50/50 ( thanks Eddie) is now in Stockport.

For reference is my wrist is 7 1/2 ( plenty of spare lug space )

Sometimes a watch doesn't quite add up to my expectation, sometimes it does.

But rarely does a watch exceed by such a margin as this one.

Someone should let Eddie know that the sales box for this watch is headed "Product ref: Precista Royal Navy Diver - PRS-82", probably a missed edit after copypasta.

I haven't, but when you pull the crown out it just winds round to 12 and stops there, you can then adjust the minute hand to the upcoming minute and then press the crown to coincide with your reference time (in my case the radio pips).

Gorgeous strap, nice and supple and I think it's going to soften up ever more than it already feels: Pittard leather at it's very best.

Does anyone happen to know the process used to blue the hands? The description of the watch on the site is very detailed but I didn't notice any mention of how the hands are blued. I assume they are heat rather than chemically blued but wondering if anyone can confirm.

Stunning watch. If only it weren't for those lugs though. I'd need to do some serious eating and working out to get away with that. I'm willing to do the former, but to hell with the latter!

I said it on the WT thread, so I may as well say it here too: that zero reset hacking was used on some early 70s Longines movements (69x2 iirc). I've an Admiral that does it, and it is an absolutely charmer of a feature, so neat and nimble.

    Precista PRS-42 - B-UHR Limited Edition

The only watch I could see that is currently for sale that has the centre seconds based on the Unitas is one of these ( over twice the price of Eddies! )

Guinand makes one at about €1500 but it is not nearly as nice looking as Eddie's watch IMO. Having said that, the Guinand would fit me while the Timefactor's version with a 55mm lug to lug length is simply too large for me.

It is a beautiful watch. It would be nice to be able to purchase that strap in 20mm and 22mm sizes for those of us with smaller fliegers (hint, hint)...

Picked number 9 up from the Post Office this morning and i'm very happy. I've not got enormous wrist but they are flat and wide so the watch wears far better than many smaller pieces. It's also worth noting that the strap sits a good way up the lugs so the lug to lug length is not a great guide to its wearability. I suspect that the effective gap between the lug holes is greater on many smaller watches such as the PRS-29B.

Its was never going to be everyday timekeeper, indeed now that i've converted to the Apple watch I don't think anything else will, but it is great fun, perfect for football match or a night out on the beer, and certain to remain part of a much smaller collection.

Well done Eddie, it was worth the wait!

Mmm it does look magnificent in the pics but somehow im a bit on the fence whether to buy one or not??

Mine's been on my wrist now since it arrived and for me the lugs feel fine, not overly large at all. As an aside, the timekeeping has been +4 secs per day.

I wonder if anyone has (or intends to) fit the solid caseback?

It may feel fine, but from the photos in this thread, it looks absurd on the wrist imo. But that's how fashion works I guess. If the wearer likes it, no discussion needed. The much larger IWC looks like it wears great in comparison.

fortunately, there is variation in human wrists

  45. #45
I've no idea how fashion 'works', but I don't think the B-Uhr could be described as a fashion watch.

its not absurd, do you know the history of this watch its all in Eddies description.

The cabins of German bombers were in most cases unpressurized and unheated. That is why most B- Uhren were fitted with a very long and safety-riveted leather strap with roller buckle so that it could be worn over the sleeve of the thick shearling flight jacket. Some of later versions were delivered on a shorter strap (“Kurzband”) so that they could be worn as a normal watch during missions.

I've got a very nice Russian Long B-Uhr type strap, but it's short enough to wear as a normal strap. I've got it on my Black Bay Bronze. I've just ordered one for my PRS-42

Im wearing my 47mm Steinhart Type A on a similar strap, the Di Model Tornado. Great straps for this style of watch.
