Didn’t someone on here measure one and show it was closer to 40mm than 41mm?

Yes, I believe so but no mention of how thick ...

The 41mm headline seems to be a marketing figure.

I remember a thread on another forum which included a screen capture from Revolution Watch.
The new sub had a diameter of 40.5mm and a thickness of 12mm.

The old sub was 40.2mm diameter.

So while the new one is only fractionally larger, rounding suggests the difference is 1mm.

Very strange looking crystal. Looks similar to a Submariner top hat crystal with the cyclops removed.

Is the gap between the end links and the bezel meant to be that big?

    Milgauss in Christopher Gerorge Cardiff

    Milgauss in David Edwards Cardiff.

Both the "green" effect model, both around £7k. (appologies for the lack of correct rolex terminology.)

Looks ok to me for a 1665 dating from between 1978-1981. Actually not a bad price, the insert alone can go for over a £1k.

I’d say it looks like the outgoing 116610LN.

Lugs look wider and bracelet narrower than the new one.

They are the only Rolex AD in Kingston since EJ lost Rolex a few years back.

The root beer is not hard to get. I was offered one about a year ago from FH Kingston (now M&W) after only 6 months on the list. I turned it down.

I rang mappin and Webb and they said they had no gmt at all..

This thread is about difficult to obtain Rolex models in the window of ADs.

It is not about second hand Rolex in non-ADs at overinflated prices.

No need to post those. They are everywhere.

I like seeing the quirky pawn shop sales and such like, not really a lot in AD windows that are actually for sale anyway..

Will say the 1665 lugs do look very polished and soft but certainly a nice watch to see in a window.

Been trying to get an Explorer for a while now and the contact I’ve been speaking to at Goldsmiths has said they’ve not had any for some time. Anyone had any experience is getting hold of one?

I find that difficult to believe as Goldsmiths are part of Watches of Switzerland group. I know some of the sites have been sold to TH Baker however this particular model should be easy to come by. There has been rumours around that they may be changing the Explorer with an upgraded movement, maybe this could be the reasons behind some stores saying they are getting non.

I got the call for an Explorer down here in Bournemouth about 2 months ago. If I recall correctly, a few other forum members picked up explorers at about the same time.

    Do you have purchase history?

Not any more mate, they sold it this morning (and not to me by the way....!!)

Has any member seen either a black or blue dial Rolex Datejust 36mm S/S Ref.126234 on Jubilee bracelet with lume batons and hands?

I have tried both my dealers and Goldsmiths - via their website and it seems that there are none to be had.

Incidentally, when I filled in both the WOS and Goldsmiths enquiry form, I had to state a shop, who then contacted me direct. And though the watch was showing as available on their site. It appears that the shops that replied back had none.
Do individual stores of such large dealers not have access to the companies stock lists?

Individual WOS stores can see group availability, or lack of.

I rang my ad and asked them for one. They knew one was coming in;so I paid for it last week and will collect after lockdown.
I had the 41mm but am looking forward to the 36mm.

Allegedly the blue is the most sought after.

I ordered one mid December last month and picked up a blue dial 126234 earlier this week, so not too long to wait. Not sure if its a keeper as it does look a tad on the small side.

The 126334 may have been a better option if you think this is too small for you. However I think it looks proportioned well on your wrists.

I did try the larger 41mm DJ but seemed a bit too much and not in keeping with what I thought a DJ should be - a more reserved under the radar watch.

Looks a tad small KK but depends if it's a daily or not. For a daily I would want a touch bigger but if it isn't a daily I'd be more than happy with that size.

They are a lovely watch in the blue and i know you don't want to hear this but 41mm would have been better.IMHO

It looks fantastic, but my initial thought was it was just a touch too small.

My wrist is bit larger so my gut is telling me I'd need the 41mm.....but would assume that is far more difficult to source.

To me it looks great on your wrist and a great size. I have the 36mm 114270 explorer and love the larger new explorer but I thought it was too big. Its the dial diameter that can make a watch look to big IMHO. Thats a long way of staying 41mm may be too big though I'd try one on as you have the 36mm for comparison.

I have looked at this model many times....they really nailed it. Congratulations.

Disagree, it looks absolutely fine to me, it isn’t supposed to wear like a dive watch!

The Datejust design works best at 36mm, it doesn’t scale up well in my opinion. The return to slimmer lugs is an improvement too, the watch head and bracelet flows better, almost like an integral bracelet, just like the pre-2006 models.

Blue dial, jubilee bracelet, fluted bezel and 36mm case is a killer combination, only drawback thesedays is the price.
