Ironic that he cleared the streets of sewage and then his grandson Peter pumped it all back disguised as Big Brother and Deal Or No Deal.

I didn't realise they were related - an excellent point.

    43 years old.

Had a heart problem and wasn't long for this world unfortunately.

Funnily enough I was reading about him this week. Although a native of Liverpool he is buried in Mill Hill, London.

He seemed a very caring chap, having a lot of time for animals.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Which pop stars deserve a blue plaque?

Over the next week, every BBC local radio station in England and the Channel Islands is accepting nominations for a local artist (or venue) that changed the course of musical history.

The winners will be honoured with a plaque on a building where they lived or a venue where they became famous.

To be considered the nominee must be:

    • Innovative
    • Influential
    • Successful
    • Dead

Listened to this on my local station this morning.

"Changing musical history" is a bit strong though - won't be many who've done that!

TBH I think that all the "pop stars" who deserved a blue plaque have one already.

Jimi, The Beatles, Stones, David Bowie, Freddie Bulsara etc already have plaques.

Who of the recently deceased has such a claim?

    I can't think of any.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

I suspect Rick Parfitt (if he hasn't been honoured already) would be in the frame & possibly Greg Lake.

... another thread resurrected from the depths.

I've been cycling backwards and forwards on Tavistock Place for more than thirty years and then this morning ...

... and next-door-but-one is Jerome K Jerome of Three Men In A Boat fame.

Over the road you should see one for Mary Anne Clarke (1776-1852)..."Mistress of Prince Frederick Duke of York lived in a house on this site 1803".
