Welcome...and enjoy 👍👍
Greetings, been registered here for a while but this is my first post. I recognize some members here from other forums.
Although I once registered under different names they will know who I am as I'm a woman and there aren't exactly a thousand of us around watch forums.
My interest in watches started over two years ago initially to purchase one watch, and then I discovered vintage watches by accident.
Since it was a fluke I would not have expected my interest to last as long as it did, but I have found watches very interesting from the view point of history, marketing, not to mention their beauty.
Over time I've learned from many generous members of on-line forums, and my interests have evolved from vintage military watches to 1940s Longines watches.
I look forward to discovering new people and new conversations.
Best regards,
S
Welcome...and enjoy 👍👍
Hi there!
Nice to get the fairer sex involved to bring some perspective.
welcome.
I'm very glad a lady has joined us.
Welcome and enjoy the forum.
Welcome
Good to have another female on here (not that I am female), it might keep some in check.
Do you have a pic of your current favourite owned watch?
It's just a matter of time...
Bonjour!
And yes please, pictures would be great.
Thanks much gents for the warm welcome. Challenging to pick a "current favorite" of course, but below are a few pictures of watches I like.
After a couple big expenses, it's been a bit of a game to try and find watches that are both cheap and fun or really nice.
Being a woman makes it easier as small watches are much cheaper.
So here goes:
- wacko 1950s watch, best bang for the buck - 14.5 dollars for the watch, 6 dollars for the strap on a street market:
- a favorite 1940s Longines, all for 35 euros:
- another size, altogether:
-and a group shot, all sizes and colors -- 3 Longines watches from the 1940s which were delivered to Egypt, Cuba, and of course the US.
A tiny art deco Universal Geneve, and a chronograph on the now famous RevO military replica straps.
Best regards,
S

What a lovely collection, welcome.
Thank you dear gents, I look forward to the discussions here!
And by the way, picking up on Omegamanic's mention of "another female here", are there other women on the forum? Always nice to know.
Best regards

Hello and welcome, nice collection :)
Welcome to the forum!
Welcome to the forum .
Is that you, Sylvie?
Intro with pictures. Always a good start :D
Welcome to TZ
Hello and welcome.
This is where your sanity disappears.
I may have to ask you to explain the fascination to SHMBO.
Yes, there are a few - but not that many at all, although some of us probably act like the stereotypical "bunch of girls" at times, so unlike some forums (non-watch related that I have seen) there is no female only sub-forums etc.
It really is a male dominated area for some reason, although I do have a few female friends who have quite a lot of watches they aren't on any watch forums.
Really liking the Longines and Zenith - the early Longines were bloody good, and expensive, watches in their day.
It's just a matter of time...
Welcome to the forum.
What a charming collection, especially the Longines with the pencil hands and subsidiary dial, and the Zenith chrono.
As others have noted, there aren't many women on watch forums and by extension collecting. Which is great in one way, as there's less competition for you. And you have picked up some great bargains.

Hello and welcome to the forum, some lovely watches in your collection.
mike
Thanks gents... I like the Longines and the Zenith too :)
The small Longines with pencil hands was purchased from a fellow Longines enthusiast who purchased it thinking it was small as 31mm.... only to find out it's 25mm.
Here's what it looks like on a tiny wrist:
And next to its 34mm cousin (the larger one belongs to my watchmaker):
Are you sure you want SHMBO to understand Johnboy?
Are you prepared to let her borrow your most prized possessions?
What about when instead of spending XX on ZZ ____ (fill in the blank) she wants to spend on a watch the same amount you're spending?
Some gents are cool with that, even really happy if / when it happens -- but not everybody... ;)
Best regards,
S

That Zenith (Chrono) looks as if shares a lot of DNA with the WW2 Hanhart, Tutima and others of that period. I think the movement might be a Cal 41.
Very nice indeed.
and welcome.

Hello and welcome! Really liking that Zenith
Hi and welcome to the forum, another thumbs up for the Zenith.
Thanks again gents,
call it the female factor, part of my reason for liking some of those watches is their colored dials.
Hence a pink dial, a yellow dial, a brown dial..... I like those colorful divers from the 1960s although I never bought one.
One of my near misses a year or so ago was a 31mm Omega Seamaster 120 with a green dial.
I had turned off alerts after deciding those watches were too expensive for my taste, and found out two weeks later I had missed a great one.
Tt had sold for less than 300 US Dollars, I suspect that's because the gaskets appeared to have melted all around the case and the movement shot looked like there was gunk all around it.
I'm sure it turned off people although the movement itself was clean and said to be working.
That was a good lesson.
Best regards,
S
Welcome
I used to have you Zenith chrono's near cousin.
Same movement, same case.
Same hands even? Yes, I think so. Makes sense, they were made in the same factory back then.
I fancy mine might have been a scandi military watch, they used quite a few of them and the caseback on mine had been ground flat.
Nice collection you have, I like the use of skinny Bonklips too.
Dave
A rose amongst the thorns eh... welcome! I know a number of ladies that are into their vintage military watches, a few wear their dads service watches. I think it's great. I will be passing on mine to my daughter as she loves spending time with me when I tinker away with whatever watch has recently been delivered by the postie :)
Thanks Dave, you're right your EP is truly a "cousin", cool dial -- I like the strap too! What kind of a strap is it and where do you find them? I've never seen one like it?
Thanks Brucy for the kind welcome, I never realized there were other women who were into vintage military watches-- it sure would be great to see wrist shots if you can convince them :)
That would be a cool subject for a nice thread don't you think?
Best regards,
S
Your welcome :)
I can just see it now... Rachel can you come into my office so I can take a picture of your hands... for the watch of course, it's a lurvely watch, I just want to post it on a forum I belong too... later that evening... why do you have picture of girls on your phone dear.. it's the watches, honestly... likely story
Next day at the office... meeting appointment with HR.. so you were taking picture of other employees with your phone...
Lol
Next time I'm out with one of them I'll see if I can grab a snap :)
Awesome thread I think if you start it I can assure any would be models of my sincerity!

Welcome Plume. Nice collection :)
Hi Plume,
Enjoy your time here, the Zenith is a peach.
Love your pearl ring also.
Thanks gents.
Brucy, for sure it might be unseemly to ask lady co-workers for a wrist shot... Too bad. Very curious still what they're wearing, but whatever you can find out without getting called to HR :)
Fantastic, Eterna ad, by the way...
Thanks Nigel for your kind words on the ring, I would not trade it for any watch!

Welcome.
some really nice watches you have there
Thanks for the kind words Van Diemen...
Hi River Rat, thanks for your kind welcome, no wonder we've got the same taste, my initial interest has been vintage military watches, I just happened to sign up here some time ago under a different name;) (and I like your new 6BB!)
If I ever have as nice a collection as you do I hope it takes some time given current prices!
Best regards,
S
