How many watches do you really have?

I dug all of our watches out last night and realised we have a lot more than I'd thought! It's very addictive!

Before I would have guessed at 15 max!

  2. #2
I don't count a lot of them, so I'm not going to get all of them out and scare myself.

I think the answer for all but a small number of members is too many. One will do ;)
It's just a matter of time...

    Around 30...

I had planned to cut down this year, but whilst a few have gone, others have arrived, so I suspect I've still got enough for a 'one a day for a month' exercise as I did in January this year!

13, I think. Most I've had as I usually go on a selling spree, but it slowly creeps back up!

^^^^ Interesting to see a collection listed like this.
Feel better knowing that I am not the only one with too many watches.
I sometimes wish that I had kept a database of all the watches that have come and gone, but I would dread to see what the figure would be on what I have spent (and lost!)

10 I think. I haven't got them all with me at the moment. Consists of about 6 I wear regularly, 1 I wear occasionally and 3 I inherited/was given etc so not keen to move them on!

Down to just one at the moment - a cheap Seiko chronograph.

I've sold everything else and can't decide what to buy instead.

34 until I pick up a chronomat on Thursday.

I only want 3 more (Santos chronograph, 216570 explorer 2 and a gold chronomat)

it'll be a while before I can afford those though.

    Just now somewhere around 45
Only 3 that I wear on a regular basis
1 that I use as an alarm clock
about 15 in a focused vintage/antique collection (mostly too scared of causing damage to wear these)
6 misc watches that I picked up or recovered from joblots like the shoebox below just because they are interesting for the little money they cost me.
and a shoebox of about 20 watches that I bought of the web to get some practice servicing (most of which I will flip once they are done so I can buy another batch of junk to play with)

    Number of watches I have = n

    n = x - 1

Where x = the number of watches that I want

My wife has pecicely n + 3 watches where n = the number of watches that I have (and claims use of)

    2 Stowas
    2 Grand Seikos
    4 G-Shocks
    2 Sinns
    2 Damaskos
    1 TF Smiths
    3 Seikos
    1 Omega
    1 Rado
    1 Hamilton
    1 Tissot

...so that's 20 in all. At least half get some kind of use even if it's infrequent, the others should really be moved on.

How many do I really have? Two more than I ever admit. Two ancient, non working quartz fashion watches which were presents. As watches, I want to chuck them out, as tokens of affection I couldn't bring myself to part with them. Their being watches rather than anything else is now irrelevant. So its actually 13, not 11. But really it's just eleven.

    4 daily wearers
    3 dressy, occasional watches
2 mechanical beaters (one seemingly smart)
2 quartz beaters (one properly WR)

    Blimey!

For those who have mentioned that they own over 100 watches : what on earth do you do with so many?

Do you wear a different watch everyday and keep rotating throughout the year? Or do you wear a few of your Grail watches daily, storing the rest away?
