I need to stock up on AA, AAA and D batteries, not bought any in a while.
So i took myself off to EBay to look for my usual cheap battery man 'Babz Media', only to discover he's disappeared.
A quick google revealed why, but must admit i was shocked at the scale of the business, i assumed it was a bloke trading out of his garage or something, i certainly never realised they were the worls largest ebay trader, with a £20m turnover, wowzers.
First fined £45k in Aug last year for recycling naughtiness

Then it seems like Royal mail went after them with a £15million claim for telling porkies about how many parcels were being sent out each day. All assets then seized and shut down, HMRC sniffing round too

Amazing the scale of these ebay shops
So, anyone recommend an ebay battery seller?

Waitrose have 8 Panasonic Pro Power Alkaline AA/AAA 2 for 1, which works out at 16 batteries for £4.99. Last time I checked they were cheaper than Amazon.
Interesting, I always used them too!

Why use eBay? I'd be picking up a multi-pack from one of the supermarkets or hardware chains for AA & AAA cells. If that wasn't an option and I needed to shop online, I'd go to: Battery Force, 7Dayshop or similar...rather than eBay.
Shame that - they did great prices on Duracell Industrial.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
I've no fear of eBay...I use it very frequently and it's my go-to source for many things. When I did a quick comparison on D cells, I found plenty on eBay, but I also found the others had comparable prices and were easier to sort through:
These guys have been great. I had never heard of them but someone on this forum recommended them. I use them all the time...................

Maybe I'm unlucky then

I’ve always found 7dayshop to be good.
Apologies if not relevant, but for rechargeables, Torchy the battery boy has been reliable and seems to have a good reputation:

Ha... Not suprised at all... They are a bunch of charlatans...
They sent me the wrong batteries, I sent them back... They claimed not to have recieved them as my post was not recorded... Resulting in me being stiffed for a tenner...
They know how to work the system!
I keep a stock of domestic batteries by buying whenever I see a decent offer - usually in the supermarkets or high street. I never seem to run out!
Have used Babz via ebay for watch batteries with no problems, as well as power-save, mhjdirect and beakytrading. All good.

Always happy with 7DayShop in the past, quick and cheap delivery usually too.
Also I tend to stock up on Costco's own brand when I'm there.
I'm sure you all do, but when bargain hunting look at the dates on the batteries. Thankfully now manufacturers have got better at putting date codes in prominent places :)
I just put rechargables in eveything. Eneloops although sometimes duracell ones are just rebadged eneloops.
I usually have to restock half a dozen every few years as the missus has a habit of chucking them out even though I've told her they are rechargables
