    Borealis Estoril arrived.

So it's arrived after a long wait and I'm very pleased.

No sign of mine yet, although I've paid. Did you get confirmation of dispatch?

That looks very nice indeed. What size is it?

No. Nothing without looking. I logged on to PayPal and it was there. Along with a tracking number.

Less than 12.5mm thick and 41.5mm diameter. 47mm lug to lug.

Looks great, it's like a Speedmaster and Vintage Speedmaster rolled into one. Nice size as well.

Thanks, I'll have a look. Or not and just be surprised one day.

It was the classic looks and modest size that appealed to me.

I quite like these – nice little homage for a decent price

    Is it a Portuguese company?

Bill Yao has the MKII Project 300 in the final phases as well, but this means nothing with Bill Yao –*could be another 10 years.

Yes, but "another"? After Eddie's and this one, what else is there, please?

I see what you mean, yes. That one is in a different league though - cost and timescales.

I have to admit that I got very excited over this project when I first saw it back, but cooled over it and the long lead time. Now another 6 months plus have flown by and the Estoril is out, I'm finding myself drawn back. Surprisingly, I'm finding the big triangle one more attractive in the finished product than the other version, which I'd definitely have opted for if I'd pre-ordered!

Will be keeping an eye out for some more user reviews and an eye on SC!

I went for the Arabic no date and I'm really pleased with it. The quality feels great, and the nice blue lume is amazing. Even the branded nato is of good quality (although a mesh is planned).

Sorry mate. If it's any consolation, I was simultaneously looking at the Big Triangle version thinking 'Should I have gone for that...?"

Yes I had lots of fun last night with a torch and a dark room. :)

It's not as bright, initially, as a Seiko for example but it does seem to last well. The lumed bezel works well too.

I'm after a mesh too. I tried one from Amazon but it's going back. Horrible clasp. I put a wtb up, on the off chance, and had a tip for an eBay strap to poach the clasp off which I may well end up doing. It deserves a nice quality strap imho.
I'm looking at the adjustable geckota with the 'H' bars but I have a feeling those clasps won't be much better either.

Do you have a specific mesh in mind? I'd appreciate a pointer if you do. :)

There's certainly a nice simitary to my eye with the lines of the triangle and the '5' and '55' markers.

Got it last week. Prefer it to the PRS 14, though the AM is better on that due to soft iron:

I have a shark mesh somewhere. I think it came from wjean on eBay, although I can't find him on there now. Strapcode would be the way to go if budget wasn't a major issue... (Not cheap).

Who is this company does anyone have any further info on them? Looks pretty nice for the price mind, the blue dial version is quite interesting.

Big triangle, black dial, no date is the one I'd go for. Good price too unless HMRC get hold of it.

    Borealis Estoril arrived.

Comes from Portugal, even though you pay in dollars. No taxey nonsense. :)

I've not ordered but the advertised price doesn't include tax, which is added on after you add the watch to your basket. So it'll add on just over $100 to the price. Still good value at +/- £400 depending on the option you get though.

Still wavering over ordering though...maybe if my Damasko DA36 I've got FS goes soon I'll treat myself as I've swung back full circle to liking divers again! :)

    Borealis Estoril arrived.

Hmmm. I got in with a preorder discount so mine was about 320 all in. There was a 15% voucher knocking around recently too but, I expect now they're actually available that's gone now.

Black no date "big triangle" version comes in at about £375. Not bad as the CWC Diver is now over £600

  31. #31

    Borealis Estoril arrived.

Just checked invoices. $236 + $192 (two payments) £291 all in. Superb value.

As an aside, and only testing for 36 hours, but the timekeeping on the miyota seems almost too good to be true. I'll do it again as best I can but it appears to be about -2 seconds so far.

On an Omega nato, which I believe is a perfect accompaniment

Love the watch and that is some mega lume.

Not a fan of the way the website has their pricing set up. They are an EU based company so the vat should be on the first price you see, kind of a shock to see it added later. They operate the same system with their other brands also. I sent off an email some time back and their response was that the company sells most of their products to buyers outside the EU.

Quite like the look and price of these, never got my hands on a prs14. This might scratch the itch.

Has anyone tried the blue version? I like the look of this:

But the dial and bezel colours are slightly different, or is this just the photo? Not sure if this would bug me or not :)

Interested to hear further comparisons with the Prs14 and side by side shots if anyone can manage that!
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

These look great. Might be an excellent daily / change to my Omega SMP. Are the crystals anti-reflective sapphire or acrylic ?

    Really two very different watches.
    Chalk and cheese!
Unless, your only reference for comparision was an SMP.

  46. #46
Please excuse the rubbish photos, my cameras ISO isn't very good at low light. I forgot I had SM300 endlinks which I saved for my PRS 14, so I tried it on the metal bracelets. The President had too small a link to endlink entry whereas the speedmaster style one was cool. I prefer the clasp of the spare speedmaster one I have which I have a pic for here too:

My interest is a daily/beater companion to my existing collection of SMP Seamasters and a visual side by side was of great interest to me (an Omega Seamaster 300 is outside my budget ,so the Borealis seems a good call for me)

Love the look of the white dialled Hamilton. Can only find a black dialled version on the website. Is it still available?
