    Let's see your Speedbird

I went back a few pages and couldn't find a Speedbird owners thread so I thought I'd start off with a pic of mine that came in from Eddie before the bank holiday.

    Specs of the watch:

    • 80,000 A/m or 1005 gauss (equivalent to the Rolex Milgauss and IWC pilots watches)
    • 10 bar water resistant and 0.4 bar negative pressure tested
    • ETA 2824 Top Grade movement
    • 39mm case diameter excluding crown
    • 20mm lug width

The 2824 "Top" grade movement is adjusted in 5 positions and has an improved main spring, shock protection system, pallet stones, balance wheel and hairspring over the "Elaborated" grade movement.

    Additional features:

    • Soft iron antimagnetic dial
    • Antimagnetic movement dust cover and retaining ring
    • Crown tube threaded into case.
    • Slightly domed sapphire crystal with AR coating on inside
    • Super Luminova C3

PRS-22 Speedbird 3 on a Timefactors branded aviator.

    My current Speedbird.

Hopefully I won't be stupid enough to let this one go.

I do love a Speedbird. I would rather like an ivory dial to go with this one someday.

I believe so although the creambird isn't far behind.

I recall Eddie mentioning that there were 100 made but 50 redialled black because of insufficient demand.

Apologies your correct! it's one of the rarest of the none limited editions perhaps would have been a better statement as it wasn't that popular according to Eddie

I'm guessing that the ivory dial Goldbird is the rarest version. I think that there were 50 of the ladies version made, an even more unusual sight in these parts.

Assuming SBIII GMT variants are allowed, here is mine:

Was originally after an IWC, but this is such a great watch, except for perhaps a future Mark XII, it has scratched the itch

  40. #40
I really will have to try one of these especially since the SBIII got text on the dial.

Anyone know how many have been produced with the text on dial and top movement?

Well, I guess there is one person who knows for sure :-)

Sadly my specimen came without the original bracelet - I wonder what the previous owner(s) did with it.

Fortunately the SBIII looks good with a wide variety of straps. Here it is on a RIOS Colorado and Eddie's YAB:

Maybe they sold it to me. A few years ago I bought one to see if it would fit on a Stowa flieger. It didn't so I have a Speedbird bracelet but no Speedbird. PM me if you are interested...

Just back from a service with Brendan Webwatchmaker and I can honestly say I am delighted with the results. I purchased this watch from Eddie in 2004 and would never part with it.

I do like the gmt version...
I like the speedbird full stop, but the orange accent on the gmt seems to make all the difference
