Usual skilfull shot, and the perspective makes a very unusual and different shot.

Stunning macro work as always, Jocke. What would you recommend for a cheap 'n' cheerful but powerful macro set up with wifi downloading of images to iPad or PC?

With kind regards from someone with a far shakier hand,

    Haywood

If you have an iPhone, these are quite well regarded.

Wow, you have made that look like a trench waiting to have concrete poured in it!

Thankyou, have looked at these but they seem to conflict with having your iPhone in even a thin, silicone case. I have two young children and if they aren't secured, anything moveable has to be....!

I posted this a few weeks ago. It works on my iPhone 6 when it's in a Spigen Tough Armour case. Of course it's no substitute for a decent camera mounted on a tripod.

Spontaneously I would say Nikon CoolPix A300 is a good macro camera at a great price and a tripod is a good start.

    Crap shot as usual, Jocke.

You missed the rest of the dial.

Excellent, thankyou. At that price it would have been rude for me not to order one! Delivery due by the end of the month.

If I enjoy the same success as you, I will see if I can find anything worth photographing amongst the tat I keep in the safes.... ;-)

    Thanks again,

    Haywood

Trial and error has shown that balancing the phone on something to hold it at a suitable height, then sliding the subject about on a piece of white A4 to place it precisely where wanted in the field of view is quite effective. Then operate the camera via the self timer to remove any shake. A 10sec timer then allows time to try and reflect some light with a white A4 sheet in each hand. Getting decent light on the subject without casting a shadow is the problem as the lens needs very close to the subject, and also the area in focus needs to be constantly monitored as the depth of field is pretty shallow.

PS. Please feel free to send on any tat you would like to have photographed, which I will do with a Canon full frame DSLR + macro lens free of charge. ;-)
