    1978 Breitling on eBay

Not sure why, but quite like the look of this. Is it worth that kind of money? At point of posting it's £855. If I think I can wear it for a year or so and get somewhere near (80%) my money back I'm interested. If it's way over priced on a nostalgic trip then not so much. Just looking for your educated view... as I know nothing about these.

    Cheers

Historically, it's quite an important piece. Together with the 'New' B13 Nav and Chronomat, it was one of thefirst watches in the 're-launch' range in the eighties. They are fairly rare in working condition, and a new aftermarket movement isn't too expensive. £855 doesn't seem OTT, and it will stand out in a crowd. Me? I've never liked the style.

For me, everything that was wrong about watches in the late '70s/early '80s.

I was an impressionable youth at the time, but even then the idea of a watch where you had to press a button to see the time seemed utterly futile to me.

I'm sure someone will feel differently and it's easily worth that to them, but I'd find it an unwelcome gift and certainly wouldn't pay for it...

Same with the digital Speedmasters - Bloody horrible things all of them, imo.

If you like it, though, what does it matter?

That watch looks like a disaster/malfunction waiting to happen. Where will you be if and when some part of the electronics fail?

I guess I won't buy it for you now :)
