Not working
What aspects of Blighty have been ruined for you by your experiences in foreign parts (as it were)?
For me, for starters:
Seafood in restaurants: having spent many holidays in the Canaries, it's always disheartening to come home to tiny portions of not-particularly-fresh seafood.
Before leaving the UK I added up how much time I spend travelling to/from work - my 5 min journey means I have gained a month a year in time.
This means I am much more involved with kids and after-school activities. Finishing work at 4pm and being home at 4.05 .
Tax - I would really miss not paying income tax.
I don't do cold any more, so I would miss being warm all year round.
Consumerism - there are very limited shopping options here so what we don't have we go without - we have much less "stuff" than friends back in the UK.
Daily help - it is a normal part of life here to have a housekeeper - she doubles as a babysitter so the Mrs and I get to go out together at least once a week.
Generally more relaxed lifestyle.
Diversity - our daily contacts professionally and socially range from illegal Hatians living in the bush to retired multi-millionaires.
Swimming in sea in temperatures below 20C. The first time I experienced a Caribbean beach and clear blue water was the last time I ever swam in UK waters.
Playing golf in winter months. I was able to play every day in Spain this January and February, mostly in shorts and polo shirt. Unlikely to be happening in darkest Wiltshire.
Not wanting to rub anyone's nose in it, but I have the best of both worlds. And I wouldn't swap that for anything.
Decent coffee - back to buckets of luke warm milk
Dress style - back to poorly fitting dark suits with no tie for the casual approachable manager look and worn with tan coloured brogues
Rationale senior managers - back to narcissistic psycopaths

Thinking that culture's something for twats, not everyone.
Simple things ,sitting outside a bar/cafe on a warm summer evening drinking a nice cold beer just watching the world go by.
When in the UK I'd probably miss well managed public healthcare... If I needed it. However, that's a long way down the list as I don't use public health services recreationally and don't share this obsession for something so... mid-table.
Though I have to say, I wouldn't miss the natural xenophobia/intolerance of some countries, despite the ingrained belief of many that the UK is one of the most racist or xenophobic countries in the world.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

When I'm back in the UK, I miss driving down the road and seeing mountains pretty much as far as the eye can see
What I would miss from Singapore :
- the variety of food 24/7
- being able to sit outside every day in shorts while having a tea / beer whatever
- top income tax rate of 22% rather than 62%
- being able to go sailing or scuba diving every weekend.
- social life that is many times better than the UK ( diverse group of expat and local friends)
- efficient, very clean, safe and cheap public transport
- taxis less than half UK price
- a government which can plan and develop infrastructure effectively
- medical care *when* I want and need it
- clean and safe everywhere
- outside movies and cultural events : year round
- living somewhere which controls who lives in the country on merit and value added
- as a expat single guy > wide diversity of interested and available women ... Must be about 20x better than UK
apart from the above ... Not much ;)
