    Felt SICK in watchfinder store

Went into watchfinder in Leeds (my first visit) with a 4500 budget and came away disheartened!
Tried on datejusts and speedys and panerais and just found myself comparing every watch I wore to my sub...
Problem is that I have about 8 other watches from Raymond weil to oris to omegas and since I got my sub I've even sold my navitimer because I only want to wear my sub!

I have an itch (another watch) that I can't scratch as I can't see myself wearing anything else.......

    Except maybe a Daytona?

How about another Sub LV or LN depending on your current model?

Or along the same lines a GMT 116710blnr or LN

I know they are over £4,500 but not too far over budget!

With a £4.5K budget you could pick up a new or second hand (with lots left over) GS Spring Driver diver SBGA029. It might make a nice complement to your Sub.

I think there's one for sale on SC at the moment.

Yes, sorry. I am suggesting GS. But I think a Sub and GS SD diver go nicely together.

Wouldn't feel too sick. You've still got £4500 in your pocket. Perhaps you don't need another watch? I'd feel sick spending that much on a watch, only to suffer buyer's remorse.

Poor lamb. Your life sounds terribly difficult.

Can one get a life for £4.5k I wonder?

Sounds like you just want to buy something for the sake of it. Until there's a watch that you're really keen on, and for a period of time too, don't even bother. It might also be that you have to wear a Rolex due to the brand name or something, in which case, as others have suggested, just buy another one.

I know we sometimes say watch collecting is an illness, but this just sounds like an incredibly over the top first world "issue". You don't have to buy anything you know.

Keep your money and enjoy your Submariner.

If the money is annoying you so much that you want to splash it about, these guys always appreciate a helping hand:

I tend to think a Rolex and a GS go nicely together. In my case a Day Date and a quartz GS divers watch, which is still sitting in customs.
One elegant watch, one tough 'go anywhere' watch.

We all know what it is like to want antoher watch. i would focus on the fact that even though you ar ein a position to buy something new, you love what you already have. Many here have spent years trying to find themselves with one watch and you seem to have managed it by accident.

    dont be sick, be happy.

Couldn't agree more. OP, donating your 4.5k will make you feel better about yourself.

I'm in Leeds and need a car. If you're desparate to spend it I'll help. I'll chuck in my Seiko as well.

Sounds like you could be the first person on here (ever?) to have actually found their 'grail', and are fully satisfied with one watch ..... lucky man (and £4.5k in hand to boot!) ...... enjoy ....

My first thought on reading the post, juxtaposed with the title, was "Jesus wept".
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

    Wow,
What I meant was that I was parting with my navi which I never wear because I've always got my sub on and that gave me about 4.5k for part ex but took the cash instead because there was nothing I'd wear instead of my sub......perhaps I have found my Grail!

Yeah, sounds like you may have 'the one' we all search for without realising. No harm in looking though and I am sure you know, but you can buy Grand Seiko and other temping pieces in that same arcade in Leeds.

It really does sound like you have found your grail watch, since you are comparing other watches to it...
So getting a vintage model might be the solution...

You need something to complement your existing watch. Order a nice Dornbluth, then you will have the exquisite yearning of a year long wait while it is built for you. Once it arrives you will have the pleasure of gazing through the crystal caseback at the beautiful whirligigs twizzling about as you manually wind it to wear on those special occasions that demand something other than your mass produced Rolex. Go on, you know it makes sense. http://www.dornblueth.com/flash.php

I'm also considering that I may just have found my ideal dial size!!
I tried on a few datejusts and I suppose they just looked too small.
The closest thing to something I might buy was a panerai with a 40mm case size but the bracelet was too small and they had no spare links!

Firstly I was expecting comment on Watchfinder pricing secondly be happy got a few quid to burn, a watch you are happy with and if the Sub touches the bases then maybe look around for a LV as a contrast.

Just got to love these first world problems man I feel your pain and sharing really is caring

How about a nice Cartier Santos if you have a sub, very classical.

  35. #35
I have a Sub, bought a SD4k, loved it even more, then bought a 166610LV. Felt SICK that I spent so much on watches but the LV is the keeper. I don't have to sell any just yet but the LV would be the last to go if times got hard. Id reccommend trying one. Just not only trying it on.

If this thread is actually real, it shows the worst side of watch collecting. Saying that you feel sick because you can't find something to spend £4.5k on....seems kind of distasteful to me and reminds me of the US timezone site and why I never go there.

True, but some first world problems are bigger than others. The OP has got one the size of a planet...

I bought it from you, exactly the model I wanted - but found it too big and so it went back on SC (at a loss}.
