The profile is so bizarre.
Sturdy little fella isn't it?
Do seats in cars like this go up and down? Can imagine a petite woman being barely able to peer out the side window otherwise
Fugly, I say FUGLY and absurd vehicle for waggish Z-posers. I would be very embarrassed if that squeezed lump was on my drive and I just know that my jocular neighbours would 'take the piss' massively and rightly so.

Wow people feel strongly about the little Evoque convertible.
It could be worse and look like this:
I guess taste is subjective, and thankfully we don't all like the same cars or watches.
On the other hand, IMHO judging other people by what they choose to spend their money on doesn't reflect well on anyone.

I can totally see it working in Southern California, in the UK, not really. Most premium cars are bought with at least some posing qualities in mind, and while this isn't for me, I don't think it's the worst thing I've ever seen.
I have nothing against the Evoque or RR - the Evoque is too small and too expensive for me but I would otherwise most certainly give it space on the drive. The normal one, not the daft pram version.
Some car shapes suit being a drop top, some don't. Like the Golf, A3, Mini - perfectly decent hatchbacks but look silly as a convertible.
Some look silly whatever form they are in.
This is what happens when marketing people are allowed to design a car.
It's not so much that it's ugly. It's just a ridiculous and unnecessary thing. One has never existed because there is no demand for one. Now it exists idiots will buy it and i'm going to have to see it everywhere.
I hate you marketing people.
I suspect Land Rover have just redefined, or even created a new market with this- the SUV Convertible.
They know about branding and they know their market.
Expect other manufacturers to follow suit.
I can't wait for the convertible MPVs, convertible estates and other such unnecessary genre-benders that will follow.
Another Evoque Convertible spotted!
Not something I'd buy though it certainly doesn't offend me, I actually think that RR have done quite a decent job design and style wise.
Little doubt that it'll sell more as a fashion accessory than on its practical attributes however there are plenty of other vehicles that already fall into that category. I haven't read it yet however I know that CAR magazine review it on their latest edition.
Quite.
I've been driving my own rag top SUV for 8 years now.
Broncos, Blazers and the rest have been around convertible since... well since forever.
The ones aimed at the females were kicked into life by Daihatsu some 25 years ago.
As to the Evoque, that would best grow a roll bar if the marketing that you are allowed to get it muddy is to be taken seriously.

Yet another example of Land Rover cutting costs, Litre bottle cheap vodca. Promise of a gang bang with local builders, Pencil, paper, And Katie price will soon cook up something. Some brilliant touches on this convertible, Very easy to bend over tail gate, plenty legroom above all seats, Nothing to wind down to throw used skin willies out, Very dogging friendly. Could have been built for Kate.
The marketing men have screwed up big time here. I have only seen Women driving Evokes (YMMV). They do not like the wind messing their hair up; so the target market is not there...
As I suspected you have completely misunderstood what Land Rover are doing, and the point I was making.
You have named a bunch of cheap, utilitarian ragtops with zero prestige and image. I was fully aware of them, and other attempts over the years from the likes of Suzuki, Nissan, hell, even Lada had a go.
If you think those are relevant to the market the Evoque has defined, then you would have to believe that a Mini Cooper S or Vauxhall Astra VXR is competing in the same market as a 911.
The Evoque Convertible has to all intents and purposes created an entirely new market - the prestige luxury SUV convertible. Look out for competitors from BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Audi.
Don't expect competition from Fiat or Citroen.

I think it looks alright. Having said that I don't seem to feel the same extreme emotions as others about how a car looks. I drive a BMW i3 which many describe as pig ugly but, again, I think it looks alright. It's only a car.
I'll admit I quite like that incredibly fugly Fiat people carrier earlier in this thread. So bad it's good 😉
I just came up with the name for it - BARBIETRACTOR
I think JLR know their market very well and suspect sales figures will prove it.
Its got fairly positive write ups so far.
Odd thing is most of these will be Diesels.
Pay a huge premium for a rag top you can only put down a few weeks a year in this country, and you can't afford to fill it up with petrol, while you sit top down, listening to the rattle and breathing in the PM10's.
Never understood convertible oil burners.
