I quite like the blue one - I don't suppose it'll come in Stainless with that dial, will it?

£25k is too much for me and I'm not worried about it being Gold...

I rather like it. As for the size - rolex know exactly what theyre doing. These'll fly through the door.

  5. #55
    Underwhelming

I think people will appreciate the great 116520 when the new one comes in.

Decent looking. Who's got a 116520 and are going to change for this ?
What are the major new differences ?

Daytona's are beautiful watches no doubt.

Apologies for my naivety. But I am unable to put sense to its price tag. Why is this watch so expensive compared to other rolex line-ups? (Don't kill me for this)

    Bag of bollax!

I wonder if they'll ever beef it up slightly like the SubC? I'd buy that

here is a hands on video by ABTW.... Its perfection... the only thing I would probably change is the shiny middle links but I guess they needed to leave some space for the next years upgrade

Oh dear another mistake by Rolex as it should have been 42mm.

At least it will look fine on girly wrists.

  17. #67
Agree that it should have been 42mm. Every Daytona I've tried looks silly on my wrist. It's a pity.
I think Rolex should ask me before they go ahead and design new watches...

I'm glad I have skinny wrists that make a 40mm Daytona look about right, 2 ADs I've called won't even take a deposit for these, only a waiting list.

No. It doesn't. Fits you very well. Lugs well-contained and a link either side visible.

Well I reserved mine a few weeks ago with my AD (subject to it being released). He's confirmed today that I'll get one as soon as they receive one, they find out on Sunday what they will be getting.

I've got a white dial already so need to decide though the white looks amazing.

So, what is 'new' with this Daytona then?

    Thanks for the link.

I suspect this will wear a bit bigger than the current model with the new bezel and colour scheme/accents. Would have preferred it to be 42mm but couldn't care less about a date function and would have ruined it if they had.

Duh, because I would like understand why most people here are raving over a 40mm Chronograph that happens to have just been updated with a new bezel and costs over 8k. That's an excessive amount of money in my opinion for what it is!

Plus it seems I am not the only one.

No need to get defensive and get your knickers in a twist, it was a genuine question

I still much prefer the design of the Big Block. The "new" Daytona looks a little better than the last but it's still pretty similar and a bit meh. Oh and the dial is still completely spoiled by that that silly essay written under the Rolex Crown at 12 O'clock.

  38. #88
It just needs aviation-inspired stencil-type numerals - it`d then be perfect.

Don't get me wrong, I like it, but not enough to buy it

Everyone I have spoken to doesn't have a clue.

Remember Rolex orders get allocated with ADs not knowing what stock they will get in

Disagree totally. People simply wouldn`t have thought this 10 years ago, that's what fashion trends have done to folks's perceptions of what looks right size-wise.

The one point no-one's raised so far is the obvious question to me: what will happen to prices of the old (current) model?

My AD said that from Wednesday morning he was inundated with requests for the Daytona. As has been pointed-out, dealers don't get to choose.
I think you might have a better chance by ordering from an AD in a less wealthy area ; the desirable stuff can hang around a bit longer. I wouldn't bet on under a year for many people. Unless they really step up production.

I hope they come down - I would be happy with an old model at the right price. Conversely, I wonder if demand for the new one will create the same market conditions as before, with long waiting lists, price premium over RRP, etc
