Cracking photos of a very interesting and beautifully made watch.

The Lange Zeitwerk is one of the more unusual watches, it is the very first purely mechanical wristwatch with both precisely jumping hours and minutes display. The main challenge behind the construction of this calibre was to deliver the enormous power which is required to push the minute disk forward every 60 seconds. Lange have solved this with designing a constant-force escapement, which sits between an massive barrel construction and the mechanism which powers the minute and hour disks. Basically there is a small "remontoir" spring which is "charged" every 60 seconds and then released to push forward the minute disk in a rapid movement.
The movement contains over 400 parts and 68 jewels. Due to its immense power consumption the reserve is only about 36 hours, so it needs to be hand-wound daily.
I have been wanting to own a Zeitwerk for years, my recent 50th birthday provided the excuse to go ahead with the purchase. This week the new tailor-made strap from Camille Fournet arrived, so now it's ready to go into rotation.

Is the turning over of the minutes directly linked to the seconds hand ie, are they always immaculately co-ordinated, the minute changing as the second hand hits 60?
Immense! I'm not even going to dare ask the tag price.

Everything about the Zeitwork is mesmerising. If I wasn't at work I could look at those shots for hours.
Incredible is the word I'd like to use to describe that.
Stunning watch and excellent photos.
I was looking at a white gold version when I bought my 1815 200th Anniversary and it is a very unique watch.
Nice strap too.
Wonderful that you love it and I sincerely hope the pleasure and excitement of owning it lastsa long while.
It isn't my cup of tea (or in my price range) but there's no denying the skill and engineering involved. I think it's easy to take such awesome engineering for granted in something so small as a watch especially when so many are mass produced but those close up shots demonstrate why we shouldn't.
I'm seeing why a pre worn strap may not have been ideal :)
One of the coolest and classiest watches on the planet. There, I've said it.

A thing of beauty! Glad you got it, did you source another one or did you take the original one and replace the strap??
Either way fantastic watch and a great birthday present, enjoy it!
Such an amazing and striking watch, huge congrats! I was very lucky to try it on for a few minutes in Harrod's and see it in action - best watch I have even worn for sure.
The term "grail" is overused. But that there is my grail, mesmerising and mechanically perfect
that is actually quite stunning and lovely photos
Nice strap Raffe ;)
Beautiful, many congratulations.
That's a beauty Raffe, one of my favourite watches. Sadly I can't afford one
That is a new one on me, and as interesting as it is, it is simply a beautiful piece (front and back). Very very nice.
What is the reason that there is a screw and some sort of bolt instead of two screws/bolts?
Fantastic! Love these. Congratulations and Happy Birthday!
A beauty, no doubt. Congrats!
The movement is a thing of majesty can't get my head around the stainless wood screw next to the hours it looks misaligned as well as cheap!
Wonderful. Many congratulations on your 50th and such a lovely watch. Any chance of a wrist shot as I understand these have a very strong wrist presence. Well done you!
Spectacular Watch & photos as well, enjoy.
Congratulations. I think I'd spend my whole time taking it off to look at the back.
Awesome :-)
The "bolt" is in fact a gold chaton bearing a sapphire, when you look closely you will see that it is the centre of the minute disk, hence its bearing. The screw is holding the timebridge (made out of massive silver) together. I find that the balance between screw and chaton works very well, but understand that not everybody will agree.
That is the nicest new arrival I have seen for a long time, congratulations.
Amazing piece, but...
Am I the only one who prefers the view from the movement/caseback side ?

Something totally different and I love the clean design. I need a Lange when I grow up
Cracking watch.
Nice write up and great pics.👍👍
Yep, the datograph is amazing. That's what I'm buying when I'm rich. Lol
What a lovely watch. I saw one in the flesh recently whilst on a long weekend to Stockholm and it was the one time piece I just couldn't stop starring at.
Luverly , guess I won't find one on ebay
An amazing looking timepiece you have there.
Beautiful raffe, congratulations on your purchase.

What a fantastic and technically intriguing watch - congratulations!
Any chance of a short video clip front and back so we can see it in action, so to speak?
Dreamy : and you won't have to wake up like the rest of us after wearing it!
Stunningly beautiful.
