    Watch Box Recommendations Please

Hi, my misses is asking what I want for my coming birthday and I thought with my growing collection a watch box would be a good idea.

I've never really looked into them so apart from the obvious I don't know what to look for to be honest.

Size would be to hold 6-8 watches. Looking for something that looks smart and modern with nice material inside etc.

Thats my main criteria really except preferably black or similar colour.

Budget would be up to around the £150 mark or maybe more if it's worth it.

Recommendations on specific watch boxes or where to look would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Tony

Have a look for an axis watch box.
My wife bought me the burl wood 10 watch box and I'm very pleased with the quality.
Will be well within budget too!

Lidl watch tea boxes and pipe lagging. Anything more is superfluous.

(Actually, that really is all I use).

I have a Wolf Designs Windsor 10. Well made, accommodates all sizes without bumping into each other. Lots of options...

Thanks I've just had a look at those and they look very nice indeed. I also read somewhere that if you have a smaller wrist than 7" you may not be able to close the clasp and there is minimal give in the pillows and they are quite firm. I have a 6.75" wrist.

Do you have one of these boxes or have any idea if that is the case or not?

I have 6.5" wrists and a Rainer box and yes the pillows are stiff (but great qualoty) but I've no problems with closing the clasps.

Both my boxes were gifts (apart from my Lidl one), and I can't remember the names of them but one word of warning, make sure what you buy has decent fitting pillows. The cheaper ones tend to 'flop' around in the case and mean the watch heads can bang against the sides / each other.

You can buy a bag of 10 very squashy pillows for a couple of quid on Amazon. I did and they are ok. I wouldn't be put off a box if the only problem was the pillows.

I agree but the problem is that they do not seem to be selling them this year.

If you want to flog them here - why do people have to pm you for a link for additional pictures?

I think they usually only have them in late October or early November. Bit soon for this year. :-) Did they not have them last year? I wasn't paying attention at that time last year.

I've had to swap to a different storage solution but A and T Crafts watch boxes are lovely if you can find one.

I have a 16 (larger size) slot one in oak that is stored away, but they did numerous other sizes (and wood types) if you can find one.

No they didn't have them last year. They were in the Ernesto range of kitchen items.
I spoke to our local Manager and he said they may not be on sale again, but as you say they normally appear in Oct/Nov

No reason other than it felt like a simple enough way to do it and has not caused any problems with those that have bought them from me. Maybe I'll update the thread with the link.

This is probably not what you are after, but I thought I'd mention it just in case. I use a Boker Knife Vault to store my watches. It's slim, light and travels well. It's no good if you have bracelets, though.

Thanks for that, it looks wonderful - I think I've just solved a conundrum for my next watch box project (an old leather shotgun case). Are the straps on the individual watch cushions elasticated and what are they made of, please?

Really like some of the watch boxes that have been posted but he one I get must be able to accommodate watches on bracelets.

I've been in touch with Rainer and he's given me a price for an 8 watch box which seems pretty reasonable. I'm nearly ready to pull the trigger on one... I'll post a picture in a bit when I get time.

they're made of stretch fabric and hold watches with straps really well
the case also features a loose tray with Rolex-like holders for watches on bracelet, so it fits a total of 15 watches, but I'm not using it at the moment

That's a shame. Oh well, they were good while they lasted.

I know that I will be shunned and ridiculed for this but I'm really tempted by one of these:

That does look quite good, if a little different lol

Why is it so high though? Is there a secret tray underneath or something?

    The tray...

...seems to sit on a little ledge:

I guess that you could keep straps under there.

    That'll be it then :-)

Nice little space for straps and accessories though.
