I like the colour combination a lot but as a whole it's not for me. Especially not at that price.

I read an article in QP about it. Jean-Claude Biver has brought something of Hublot to Tag Heuer since taking charge.
It's a bit too big and busy for my taste.

18 mnths time it will be onsale at 50% off. £4300 gets you in Rolex/Panerai territory and a nice one at that. To spend that amount on a TAG is madness imo

Looks a bit Richard Mille meets Hublot to me. And I like those 😜!

Would like to see this in the flesh.

    Not my cuppa tea.
Heck though, if I'd got the £4300? That do me fine for a good deposit on a B50 which, I know isn't everyone's cuppa tea either.

No. Save the money and pick up a Seiko 6309 reboot when it becomes available. Ok it is not a chrono but you get the sentiment.

Surely Hublot will be a bit 'hmmmm' about this as it's basically a cheaper version of the Aero Bang?

Both Hublot and TAG Heuer are owned by LVMH and M. Biver went from Hublot to TAG. Probably all ok'd at some level in the parent company.

I love almost everything about vintage Heuers... and almost nothing about TAG Heuers. How could a company have so completely lost its way? Save for the occasional reissues of classic Heuer designs they haven't produced anything of note in thirty years.

Everyone (except me it seems) has a witty one line negative comment, but rather than all the WUS style one liners, how about some considered criticism?

Saying simply "bleurgh" or "my eyes!" is what the other watch forums are for.

Not a watch I would add to my collection, just seems an over complicated face. If I was buying a Tag Heuer then a Monaco would be my choice. But then again we are all individuals and if it floats your boat go for it.

It looks like a £20 kids watch. I wouldn't wear it if it was free.
At least you won't get fakes of it, no one would want to waste £30 on a watch that ugly??? And who would want to make more of anything that ugly anyway :? That said the original looks like a badly considered knock off, a cheap Argos beater with a Tag sticker on the dial.

Big Hublot influence there. This is obviously aimed at people who can't stretch to a Mille or a Big Bang but are satisfied with a recognisable name on their wrist. It's a style that is in vogue at the high end, not for me but it will sell I think.
I don't get hung up on the whole Tag thing. I wore one through most of my 20's and 30's and was proud to show it off. My tastes have changed but my son has a couple on his short list for his 21st so it goes back to certain tastes at different times.

Saying simply "bleurgh" or "my eyes!" is what the other watch forums are for.

While it follows the current fashion for 'industrial' watches, in which the innards are revealed, what is revealed is merely utilitarian mechanism; it's not pretty, coherently displayed or remotely
interesting, it's just a fairly ordinary and entirely undecorated Chinese style movement that serves as a poor background to the hands. This confused effect is actually made worse, by the facade directly in front of it, which further confuses the viewer. As if that is not enough, Tag saw fit to add yet more script that further confuses the eye and then surrounds the whole mess with an inner chapter ring,a busy outer chapter ring and an equally busy tachy (in every sense) bezel which, combined with the subdials and date ring adds up to a quite remarkable one hundred and sixteen distinct numerals. The outer chapter ring alone has two separate scales on it, which combined with the inner indices and the outer tachy scale to give the impression of a watch designed by a committee that couldn't say no and an over excited eight year old.

Then we get to finishes, there are dozens of them: matt, shiny, brushed, light grey, dark grey, black and so on. While the actual shape, face on, echoes the clear purity of the Heuer divers from before TAG trashed the company, the plastic looking black bits remind anyone who was dumb enough to buy one of Tag's crappy plastic divers from back in the day, Yup that's me, of that unfortunate period and raises the expectation of the plastic scoring and peeling away from the crown while the bezel slowly erodes into shiny nothingness. I'm sure it's anodized steel, but that's not the point, someone should have remembered not to remind people of the plastic period...

    That do?

I'll stick with one of these as my open face offering:

This is a TAG, what did you expect :)

Its styling is derivative, it's hard to read, the date placement is awkward and it's much too large. The PVD is also overdone. I like the case shape and in particular the lugs, but that's been around for decades.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

    It would be fine
    a) without the skeleton dial, and
    b) if it was £430 rather than £4300

    As it is, forget it.

How about you take your appropriate response dictatorship and poke it up the very same orifice that Christopher Walken would use to transport that gaudy Tag. Without lubricant.
At least that way it gives you something else to worry about apart from what other people have to say and also stands a high chance of improving its design aesthetic by completely obscuring the dial.

    There. I considered it.

Thanks. I actually bought it by accident as a complete gamble on the basis of a blurry picture in the US. All I was looking for was the resonator. Infuriatingly this one is working perfectly apart from the minor detail of having lost the sapphire tip to the index pawl and is in impeccable condition. The watch I was trying to get spares for is this one:

Which is what I call a proper watch!
