Snowfall on BBC2 and Norskov on Ch4 both started last week and had enough about their first episodes to suggest they could be good.

Suits is good. Also new one on amazon called start up. It’s just got into its second series.
Ballers on Sky Atlantic. If you like American drama.

Jack Whitehall Travels with my Father on Netflix was laugh out loud funny. He's not everyone's taste as a comedian but his 5-week "gap-year" adventure in Asia with his 76 year old curmudgeon, theatrical agent father had my wife and I in stitches. Six 40 minute episodes and definitely worth four hours of your time.

I'm pleased that you thought so. I only watch a small amount of tv so rarely in a position to post recommendations here, but I knew this one was very good as SWMBO insisted I watched it - and she's an avid watcher of crime thrillers, but voted this real-life one to be even better than fiction.

Yup I'm enjoying this a lot, too. First episode was difficult to feel like persisting with but after the second I had to keep watching. Great so far.

Narcos is great, season 3 was superb.
Also a bit older but Fargo if you haven't seen it... brilliant!
Season 2 is in a class of its own imo.

Another vote for Mindhunter on Netflix. Need to get to end of 2nd episode, but having done so it’s very, very good. Love the soundtrack too, bang on for the late 70’s.

I’ve just watched the first six episodes of The Orville, and I’m rather enjoying it. Not quite the comedy I was expecting- in a good way.

Some clever story lines as well - especially the generation ship one.

Be interesting to see how it develops.
So clever my foot fell off.

I’ve been on the lookout for this. Which provider is showing it?

Thanks for the tip - I wouldn't have bothered if I'd just seen it in the Netflix menu, but as you say genuinely laugh out loud moments.

Having just binge watched Fargo series 3 on the planes to and from South Africa I can honestly say that all 3 series’ are some of the best TV drama ever written.

Also a late starter to the uS House of cards and am enjoying that.

Yep totally agree. First episode is a bit 'meh' but it really hits it stride and the guy playing Ed Kemper is utterly brilliant in the most creepy of ways.

Did anyone carry on watching Mr Robot (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Robot) -it consistently gets good reviews but I found it hard going and gave up a couple of episodes into season 2.

Season 2 got caught up with focusing on trying to be too clever for itself. Season 3 has started well though for the first two episodes. A bit grimmer but the character play with Elliott is done a lot better this season.

Agree with this, I'm nearly finished watching this and it's been very good. Fincher directs the last two episodes as well as the first two btw.

Watched Season 3 of Narcos a few weeks back and thought it was very good - way better than season 2 in my opinion.

Also watching the second (and final) season of Vice Principals which is always good for some laughs :-)

Looking for a good Sci-Fi series. The wife is in hospital so I'm saving the stuff that we watch together until she gets out. She hates Sci-Fi but I love it, any recommendations? More into the classic Sci-Fi than the fantasy stuff.

Difficult Eddie, I’d like to know myself.
Not much of a fantasy guy, but old school Sci-Fi really gets me going, but it’s mostly books I guess. The Next Generation and Deep Space 9 still did it for me though.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!

I'm really impressed with StarTrek Discovery. Dark and plenty of action with movie grade production.

Failing that you could always get the box set of Blake's 7???

I'm talking stuff like Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Philip K Dick, J G Ballard, James Blish and even H G Wells.

Those are in my bookcase a plenty :)
I’m reading Cities in Flight, A clash of Cymbals as we speak. But not a lot of those you mention have had their books turned into a movie, sadly.

The Expanse on Netflix is superb - proper huge budget beautiful sci-fi.

Have you watched the Battlestar Galactica remake from a few years ago - easily some of the best television of the past decade or more.

You might like Falling Skies - quite violent, but I thoroughly enjoyed it - hugey absorbing and exciting.

Time After Time is fairly lightweight, but is actually about HG Wells and his time machine. They only did one season though.

Timeless is excellent - visits many of the major historical events of the past century - starts with the Hindenberg disaster, and the Apollo 11 episode is fantastic.

And finally, I'd recommend Travelers - very clever premise and very enjoyable.

Luckily Timeless got a reprieve. It got cancelled and then due to fan pressure, there will be a second series next year :)

It's a shame Dark Matter got cancelled, as this was the best series on SyFy :( :(

I though S1 was good but couldn’t get into S2, it seemed to have got a lot cheeseier. Planning to give it another go at some point but it’s quite a long way down the backlog.
