    Very engaging

Best series I’ve watched in a long time, and as you say, a bit of a tearjerker.

I’m 51, so it fused perfectly with my time growing up in the late 80’s/90’s

Anyone recommend any of the following TV dramas? Need something after Slow Horses and Kin.

    Finders Keepers
    After the Flood
    Too Good to be true

Too Good to be True, isn't.

Another vote for One Day. Wonderful show and like others have said if you are of a certain age (early 40’s early 50’s) it will be incredibly nostalgic!

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but I am excited about Shogun coming soon.

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2788316

It's got Hiroyuki Sanada, who I think is an excellent actor and well suited to a show like this.

Been eagerly awaiting this - looks superb!

Another new series I'm very excited about is The Sympathizer:

We’re watching 1883 and really really enjoying it, really well made, gritty and full of drama, and I also feel a bit guilty about having a bit of a crush on the blond cowgirl. 🤠

Started watching "Breathtaking" on ITV - about COVID-19 and PPE scandal etc.

Only 1 episode in but seems well made - and should come with a public health warning, that it will make your blood boil!!

Have to say I’m also struggling with this season, having enjoyed previous ones. A sprawling plot without enough sense of what it’s about, where it might be going or even what genre we’re in. I guess I’ll finish it in the hope that all comes together in the end, but I’m losing hope.

Meanwhile Mr & Mrs Smith continues to hit the spot, it even has a surprisingly nice selection of watches.

This season was "True Detective" in name only. I believe none of the team from the first 3 series were involved and HBO decided to name it under the True Detective banner after it had already been given the go ahead.

The first couple of episodes gave me Fortitude (awful, bonkers Sky Original drama) vibes and not just because of the setting. I stuck with it though and by episode 4 I was getting more into it.

The last episode was a complete mess though and the whole series had no clear direction on what it wanted to be. Jodie Foster carried the series but by the end even she seemed to have given up on it.

Incidentally I think the previous season (3) is underrated, it retained much of the menace and atmosphere of the first season and I preferred the more understated ending.

I actually really enjoyed True Detective S4, there's a good series on YouTube that helps with a summary of what's going on if you don't give it 100% attention, which I rarely do!

    I've not watched S4 yet.

I agree on S3 though, I've watched it a few times and it's brilliant. S1 clearly the best, but S3 is a worthy successor. We don't talk about S2

I've just watched 'Anna Director's Cut' on Prime - it's certainly different to the police procedurals or legal dramas I mainly watch. It is about a woman whose life takes an unplanned turn, but what I enjoyed - or at the least found interesting - was the insight into the class structure and formality of South Korean life which would definitely not be for me!

Just started this, annoyingly can only find it on ITV X so have to sit through adverts as I’m too tight to pay for premium !!

Are there only 4 episodes in season 1 ?

Liking it so far - bit like Kin 20 years ago lol

  27. #5327
I watched the first 3 seasons of only murderers in the building recently and I quite enjoyed it actually.

I like the main three cast though, I can see how some people would be put off by them.

It's part of your Virgin package.

I've got that function as well, but it's next to useless for me living in Scotland, as I have to watch the majority of 'ITV' programmes using the hopeless STVPlayer which doesn't support that widget.

Twisted Metal on prime is mindless fun, mad max mixed with a zombie free walking dead vibe. hang your brain at the door.

You can still use ITV player in Scotland, just turn off location services and enter an English post code.

I've been doing that for years!

    Yep. Seen it through twice.

I sometimes go into a rather ridiculous Scottish accent when I've watched a few on the trot.

Just watched the first two episodes of Shogun on Disney+ - fantastic, and as good as everyone has been hoping. There's a lot of spoken Japanese with subtitles, so you have to commit to watching without browsing on your phone at the same time!

Would have to agree - very good acting by the two lead characters which makes the whole series so true to life. Watched the last episodes last night and the ending was very sad. Both my wife and I were in tears as we could relate to the story so well.

Watched the first 2 episodes of Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen last night and had ixed feelings on it

I think it'll grow into a really good series but it's hard to get the originall film out of my mind when watching it. I don't think the characheters have
anywhere near the same gravitas of the film, but lets see how it progresses

    Anyone else started watching this?

I'm watching Love/Hate too, following the recommendation here. I'm also sitting through the ITVX ads, but well worth it - it's excellent. Yes, only 4 episodes in S1 but 6 per season thereafter.

It's a very similar strory, told in true Guy Ritchie style, an 8 episode series and is on Netflix

I'm 4 episodes in and I think it's getting better with every one
