    Wow, groundbreaker indeed.

Was only listening to Starman whilst watching The Martian the other day.

A supremely talented songwriter who still seemed keen to inovate as time went on and not to rest on his laurels.

There may be Bowie tracks you don't like as much as others, but you'd always be able to hear a man exploring the boundaries of his art.

Like everyone I knew the hits but I have just begun exploring his back catalogue. A supremely talented artist who will be much missed.

    RIP Bowie.

Quite unreal. His music is woven through the fabric of my own life. Reinvented his art brilliantly time and again. Absolutely in a category of his own.

I was never a really a fan of his music but i was just saying to the Mrs the other day how cool he was.

Even in later years he just oozed a certain style and coolness.

    RIP Dave.

Far too often is the term "artist" banded around in the musical fraternity, but Bowie was one of the few REAL artists left.

The first time I've replied to one of this type of thread.

One of the all time greats in my opinion.
    My favourite album are:

I never managed to get the whole Bowie phenomenon but he's was a hugely talented musician and a great influence on many others.

    A sad loss.

First heard this at 5 to 7 this morning but I still can't quite believe it.

A truly talented artist who has been the only musician that I have always listened to - the others have come and gone. My youngest was even born to "the Man Who Sold the World" as a complete coincidence with the surgeon's music in the theatre.

    RIP Starman

Shocking news to wake up to today, particularly as he released a new album only last week.

  41. #41
I bought his new album on Friday on vinyl and have been playing it all weekend - a dark album with added poignancy now.

RIP Mr Bowie - we can be heroes!

Absolutely shocked when my youngest son told me this morning.

He was a bit shaken up being a huge Bowie fan like his old man.

Can't believe that he has gone.

    RIP David.

Sat in the traffic listening to my youth being played back at me through Bowie.
What a legacy he's left, so original a complete one off.

    Adios Major Tom

So sad, I was only looking at a picture of him last week and thinking how youthful he still looked at 69 and how well he was aging

He'll live on forever in his music.

David Baddiel on twitter puts it well:

"Not just upset by Bowie's death but disorientated: like I've woken up and the world is out of joint. I think I assumed he was immortal."

Not often I turn on the radio and am shocked by what I hear. Very sad news, his music was always around when I was growing up.

gutted when I heard this. Very much part of my life.
First record I ever bought was "Ashes to Ashes". Saw him live on his Glass Spider, Sound & Vision and Earthling tours. The Bowie exhibition at the V&A was amazing. So glad I went to that

    RIP David
